pH question...

My water is measuring around 7.5 and then when I measure the water draining out of the soil after watering, it's around 5.0...So does this mean that the actual pH of the soil is less than 5.0. That's not good so is there a cheap, easy way to raise the pH to where it's supposed to be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Balancing ph is something I just got into too and have had the same exact issue.

You can slowly adjust the ph by adding gypsum to make it more acidic, or limestone (in your case) to make it more alkiline. Other things will work too, lemon juice for acid, baking soda for base.

It takes time for it to effect the soil, so don't overdo it otherwise you'll swing the other way in ph. You can get processed gypsum and lime at pretty much any nusery/landscape center.

How much baking soda would you use? I will buy some pH Up on Tuesday but I wouldn't mind getting a jump on it.
