pH soil issues. how to properly and accurately test.

i know how to test pH for hydro set ups but im going organic and I'm trying to make my own soil. a few of my sprouts (2 nodes and less) seem to be yellowing. I'm pretty sure the pH is off, but i have those cheap testers you get from lowes and it seems no mater what soil i test its usually between 6 and 7 out side, inside, down the street. I've never really had to test for pH in soil b4 i normally buy pre-made fox farm. I'm also thinking it could be light burn/bleechin from having my LEDs too close. any thoughts?

dude how do pics help you tell me the best way to accurately test pH in soil?

Test the run off of your soil mix if that hand ph probe does not work

would that be an accurate reading of the soil pH or like a little under or a little over what the pH in the soil is.

the reading that u get from the run off should be the ph of your soil

i currently use advance nutrients the ph perfect line but before i moved to that i ran with humbolts when ever i got a ph probelm i would just give it a good flush with phed water and i would be okay

good! thx again for the info it was my first time to play with anything like that before been growing soil for a while but only in promix
and the good humidity domes for my youngsters

also im assuming that if hypothetically you have a pH of 5 then watering with water pHd to 8 it would balance out to around 6.5; ph of 7.5 watered with water pHd to 6.1 it would balance out to around 6.8 or does logic not apply to this?
