ph strips and soil

I went to Walmart and saw Ph strips, so i bought a bottle to go with my $12 Ph meter from Walmart. Now, the POS meter reads 7.5 but the Ph strip reads 6.2 mind you, both are read in soil. I just buried the Ph strip in the soil for 30 seconds, and that's what it read. I know its not going to be accurate, but it is what it is until my meter comes in the mail. Anyone knw what to make of the big difference in the Ph readings? I measured the day after feeding, and the soil is MG. Thanks ahead of time!:leaf:

A better way to test soil ph is to water with neutral ph water then test the water coming out the bottom of the pot. I've used ph strips to do that before. I would suggest adding lime to your soil, it will naturally keep the ph stable so you don't have to worry about soil ph. Monitoring the ph of your water and nutes is most important. And from all I've heard those cheap probe meters you stick in the soil are not even close to accurate, but I have no experience with them.
