If you are growing with a DWC system using the Lucas Formula and change the nutrients weekly you will only have to monitor the pH of the solution during the grow. If this is the case your pH only meter will work for your grows.

Hi
I am a nuub to Hydro.
I bought a Hanna HI 98108 Ph tester:

I just realized I need a PPM tester too right?
As far as I can see this can't do both.
I'm still trying to figure this out.
Would this:

Or this:
http://www.growwurks.com/hanna-primo-tds-ppm-tester-meter.aspx
work better for a beginner?
The GrowWorks unit looks like the best choice, but I agree that either will work. I've never seen PPM meters for such a low price. I'm sure as long as you take care of it the accuracy will be close enough and help you out greatly! Very important to know how many parts per million of disolved solids are in your nutrient solution. If you ever purchase another one of these in the future, $100-200 will buy you a very nice PPM/PH/Temp/EC combo meter with increased accuracy.
