My ph went up slightly to 6.8, I add some ph down to some water an added it to my rez. An hour later I retested and it climbed way up to 8.6:? so I added a tsp of ph down & tested. IT WENT UP AGAIN. I'm lost at why, maybe a mislable on my bottle of ph down, its really ph up..I don't know.. This ever happen to anyone else? I flushed an reloaded water an nutes and my ph is at ok levels and will leave it be till my new bottle of ph down gets here.
Thanks,
Bus

sounds like fish aquarium ph adjuster.I couldn't make a batch of water a night before watering because of the same problem.I bought some adjuster from General Hydroponics and it holds.I had water sitting for a week and a half or two after I ph'ed it and it was still the same.

Ahh..sorry I ranted on and didn't mention what I use. I used for the first an only time, "Natural PH up & down". But its good news that you have good results with " General Hydroponics" cuase thats what i ordered lastnight.
Thanks for the reply.

Hard water bounce-back.
I used distilled water but, I ran out and my last 2 gallons were from the tap. So maybe a lil hard. I had to flush after the ph mess and i did so with tap water because thats all i had left. My ph out of the tap before adding nutes was 6.4 and after nutes it dropped slightly to 6.1. I just tested an ph is 6.3.
So, not sure if hard water bounce back is my problem. Thanks for the reply.

hmm I might think that it has something to do with the fact that you're using the natural stuff, which probably isnt buffered so it will take a long ass time to reach a proper equilibrium. Get the good stuff!

potroast

Uses the Rollitup profile
Thats too high,unusable.

I wouldn't say unusable. My tapwater is around 500 ppm @ 8.2 and I've been using it in hydro for 10 years. It says in that quoted article that what is important is "carbonate hardness." And the alkalinity of the water is a pH stabilizer, so naturally RO water is less pH stable.

HTH

o.k. thanks all. I have the " good stuff" coming. I just find it odd how the ph went through the roof after adding ph DOWN. I never use that brand before & I never had this issue in the past. Thanks again, I will get a grip on it.

You can you get a city water report from the library. It will list the elements in your water, I've got 106ppm sodium in my tap, look at the sulfate, that almost enough in its self, not good.My tap water really sucks.

Hey Shortbus. I just had the opposite experience with "natural up" and "Natural Down". Both of them lowered my PH with distilled water. I tasted them and they taste exactly the same - like citric acid. Unbelievable.
