Soon I'll be getting set up to go through some regular seeds from Spartan Family Genetics (Spartan Kush x Bewitched). I was wondering what you guys think the best set-up plant count wise and Timing I'll have room for one 2x4 tent and two 3x3 tents or one 2x4 and one 4x4 or 5x5.

I'll be using either f series strips or a qb120 diy fixture. 4000k spectrum.

600umol, 65-70% rh, 82°f day, 78°f night veg.
900umol, 45-50% rh, 78°f day, 74°f night flower.

Setup will be flood and drain with coco (possibly dtw).

Nutes jacks 321 with recharge and mammoth p.

Any thoughts Or recommendations as far as plant count or anything really. I havent purchased much for this project aside the genetics and I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks for looking guys!

Trying to picture this in all these tents. What are you aiming for besides 2 pounds per plant?

Honestly I just need 3 oz a month dry max would be my households meds. But I'm just diving deep on my hobby and probably gifting a bunch to friends.

Possibly doing some of my own breeding in some years when I find the right parents for it.

Only really going tents for now as I'm renting this house for the next year or so then we will more to a more forever home hopefully.

If anyone is pulling 2 lbs a plant indoors it must be a very long scrog. I don't really want to veg for more than 6 weeks if I can avoid it!

I'd rather run more cycles for quality than harvest killer yeilds.

I guess what single sized tent/room would make pheno hunting 20 plants not feel overcrowded. (I'm likely to run mostly reg seeds)

When they're ~ 12"-18" tall you can usually tell if they're male or female.
Cull all the males + mutants, usually about half or more.
You can keep them in ~1gal pots until they show, then just up-pot the females after the Cull.

Yeah, I've been racking my brain over space design and clone storage is a factor.

I don't want to grow 12/12 from seed though. I'm basing it on a method I use that I think makes sense.

Grow from seed at 18/6 and start them in 1 gallons with hydroton drainage layers.

Grow and top the 4th node. LST to maximize multiple tops, looking to mimic tie down technique.

By 6 weeks old, the plants reveal their sexual maturity and basic vegetative growth structure. Structure is important, so I want to see this stage. Then, keepers are transplanted into 5 gallons and vegged for 1 to 2 weeks to adjust to transplant and prepare for a growth spurt. Then flip to 12/12.

The 1 gals fit 9 into a 2x2 space. (8" footprint)

The 5 gals fit 4 in a 3x3 space. (18" footprint)

I figure I could have 18 early veg spots, 8 transition spots. Up to 9 in Flower. 3 more slots dedicated to male selection. Males should be able to be culled before transition, and are going to be grown out with appropriate feed in the 1 gallon pots in their own space.
Good quote that touches on your question from another thread.

Pheno hunting takes time. If you can't grow 30+ phenos at once, your best bet is to pop 30 seeds and be VERY aggressive culling the weak ones. It's kind of a ghetto way of pheno hunting without having to grow so many plants to maturity. I tend to pick beans that are first to pop and don't show much, if any preflowers after they are teens.

As far as it goes I'm changing it up a bit.

I ended up just finishing out a room in the basement.

5.5 ft wide x 10.75 ft long x 7.25 ft height.
Running on 48 in wide x 40 in long x 4 in height plastic pallets to raise it off the concrete and add additional airflow.

Just going to make the space full cycle and Pheno hunt til I get a few keepers which I'll throw in a seperate space (Aka VIP lounge)

Debating on doing about 18-24 seeds on each tray in square pots and veging them to 21-28 days before I flip to sex.

Depending on what comes out of sexing them I'll cut them to 8-12 (hopefully) on each tray to generate out and see what I'm looking at.

I PLAN to take a pretty detailed journal with daily data logs. We will see what happens though, no promises.
