Phenotype Scanning and Cannabis Science

This phenotype 3D scanner looks really interesting (and expensive.) Here is a video from a early adopter. Just wondering if breeders are embracing this level of technology yet. I also know that scientific discussions are spread throughout the forums... I think there should be a dedicated topic for cannabis science/tech, if there isn't one.

Loki..... phenotypes arent sciences, and often the same phenos are called multiple different names. phenos.... well to say the least it would be difficult to catalog them all and use any device to determine so insightful data.

well if it works for food crops why not cannabis. truly serious commercial growers will be using this level of technology to make mass market products...one day. there is a homebrew version of this approach using imagej that may be useful to more artisan breeders/growers...the point of the post is to start looking at state of the art phenotype technology and how it may map to the science of cannabis genetics.

I see a software program that uses uploaded photos to do "Phenotype Scanning" being more viable to cannabis breeders, at least while cannabis is still illegal. But this kind of process will probably be the standard for named strains in the future.

Small time growers using seed banks can only hope.

Halent Labs is doing some interesting work. It would be great if there was a way to do this level of chemical testing at home like we test for pH or ppm. That is still likely 10 years away.
