Photosynthesis and Yellow leaves

A question for anybody who can answer it Do the yellow leaves on a MJ plant still photosynthesize or are they just food reserves ?
I ask because my Roadrunner is covered in yellow leaves very little green left but some of these leaves are shading a good few of the buds and I was just going to cut them off but if they're still any use to the plant i will leaf them
Anyone know ?

Those pics are a few days old it is all that colour now

yes they do. Just less. Think about it. What color besides yellow make green. BLUE! so your not taking in blue as much but you still absorb reds and a little orange. Thats the specturm budding plants need the most. I leave the yellow ones on untill they get brown and fall off. Which may not happen if you fixed the nute problem they had in the first place.

Thanks Bostoner that makes a lot of sense,they don't look like they will fall off so i'll leave them

If there's photosynthesis going on, the leaf is producing auxin for the plant. If the leaf is producing auxin for the plant, the plant keeps the leaf attached. If auxin isn't being produced by the leaf (no photosynthesis going on), an abscission layer forms and the plant gets rid of the leaf.

they are beautiful i like the one from above i cant wait till mine get that big. i cut my leaves and add them to my (well its technically) compost and guano mix but thats what i do because i dont waist leaves or stems you should sell me some of that lol

Yours look an awful lot like mine actually. Started flowerin in the begining of February. I'm giving them about a week to two, harvesting at different times. Started plain water 2 days ago. you have a microscope? Radio shack has them for pretty cheap. Check the trics. Mine are all cloudy with few amber's as of yesterday.
