OK

I have a some questions but am open to any advice at all.

My goal is to grow 3 foot plants. Do you think I can get an oz off a 3ft plant at harvest. Do I NEED to go taller to get yeild. (I don't want to try any LST yet as I am a newbie)

How strong of lights would you suggest with a box about this size. I want ideally 2 mothers and 8 clones in veg and another 8 in flower. Do you think this is attainable with my design?

The system will be hydroponics, drip in veg and ebb n flow in flower.

I have a few restraints with the build. I need to be a little bit quiet. Some noise is ok but not alot. The room the box will be in is a basement in an older house. Should I clean out the room first to prevent from mold or what ever could be in the air down there?

Two more. What level of humidity is too low for efficient growth, and what temperature should the outer room be for the ventilation to be effective at balancing temperature with the lights?? From what I gather...in a box the lights keep temp up and the fans keep temp down.........but if the fans are blowing 70 degree air will they even make a difference??

I was thinking of using a regular fan on the bottom and a squirrel cage to vent at the lights and run that to a carbon filter.

I know this is alot but anyone with an answer or any input will help.

Please give me your take...

ok here's the dimensions

height:
2ft for lighting on top (so that when the plants get bigger they some space from the light).
3ft for plant growth in the middle...thats from the tray to the top, assuming they'll be 12" from the lights at harvest.
1ft for the base reservoir n stuff like that
almost 3ft of width for each chamber

each chamber
will have these dimensions for plants alone....3'x3'.2.5'

like the dimensions in the picture show

the cabs are six feet tall but only 3 will go to plant growth..the other 3 will be:1ft for the reservoir and 2ft for the lighting ( i assume lighting will take up 1ft but i will need that extra foot to keep my distance at the end of harvest)

Well i rekon that if you vent them well and use cool tubes you could get away with using 600 watters and you would easily get more than an ounce.
I use 400 watt hps and i get great results with them and have the lamp only 8" from the tops.
You have to have a decent fan on them at this distance though and if your using enclosed cabs than you will have to extract the heat as well or your plants will fry.
If your in the basement a good trick is to vent the smell and the heat up your houses drainpipe obviously through a carbon filter though.
I see no apparant reason why your setup and ideas wont work wellbongsmilie

I would recommend using 400 watt 7200k MH bulbs for your clones and your mother and 400 watt dual spectrum hps bulbs for your flower cab.
I you want to achieve higher yields then change the above to 600 watt bulbs of the same ilk.
As your new to this i would suggest starting out with only 400s and see how you go with it.
If you really need to cut costs use proper professional 125/250watt cfl ballasted lamps with reflectors for your mother and clones.
These are slightly cheaper to buy and a lot cheaper to runbongsmilie

anyone else with advice is greatly appreciated...i am gonna be investing in this here and i just wanna make sure i don't have to rip the box down because of poor design once i've built it
