Hi Mike !
We all love your plant !
I wonder if you prevent any indoor house lights from shining on the plant through the windows - do you close the curtains at night ?
Any spill over light, even as dim as moon-light, that occurs during the dark will cause the plant to slow its ripening, and the sides of the plant getting extra light may not mature fully.
Warm days would speed up ripening, but this plant seems like a strain that needs 10+ weeks to finish blooming outdoors.
My impression is that you could wait another 3 - 4 weeks if deep frosts don't come before then. The house is a good temperature buffer, and even delicate peach trees can survive harsh winters if planted by a wall to a house.
A frost-tent is a good idea, but if not soaking the ground with water, deeply saturating the soil, will help. Water has a very high 'specific heat capacity' and it'll even release a little heat when it freezes.
On frosty nights you could also place 20l bags of hot water around the base of the plant, like hot water bottles we use in our beds. Add just enough warmth to keep things above freezing, but the plant will probably be quite tolerant to frost.

Yeah the kitchen lights have been a problem. We don't have any curtains to close there. We have been diligent about turning lights off in there around dusk and it seems to be helping. Wish we had done that sooner.
Great ideas on the frost. If it comes to that I will indeed do the bucket thing. Was planning on opening those windows as well and letting the heat come out of the house.
Been in the 70s during the day and 40s-50s overnight.
I'm finally smelling what everyone has said. It definitely has a smell to it now. That distinct smell we know. No stink or whatever. Smells kinda good if you ask me. I don't think neighbors could smell it - yet anyways. I did take a look from the neighbors yard, it's blatantly obvious. 3-4 weeks is gonna kill me, but sticking it out I guess!

LOL. I'm on 1 and 1/2 acres and I couldnt get away with a plant that size at home. I have to keep em round 6 ft max. Some friends of mine grow em 15 plus ft but they have a long season and live in the middle of nowhere.

Believe me if I knew what was going to happen I would have topped it months ago. I had no idea they could even get this big, I had assumed 6' was a monster before I grew this. I'm on a half acre, and that's a HUGE property where I live. There is a good acre of woods behind me, think I'll go closer to that next year, and keep it under control, train and tame it!

Actually if She put top notch soil down and good microbes and friendly molds they would still be living in that soil
Canna is a great sponge it finds everything and soaks it up
That`s why they use it to get heavy metals and radioactive contamination out of the ground, few people know they planted loads of hemp at Chernobyl to help remove radiation from the ground... clearly you can`t smoke or eat weed that has been contaminated with radiation or heavy metals
But I do suspect some criminal growers may use Aluminium and such in some feeds to up the weight of their plants in much the way Bakers used to use Aluminium and chalk to bulk out the flour many years ago
Regardless the plant`s looking lush, I do think we some tactical plant feeding ratios of n-p-k you could get an earlier harvest next year

Gnarly looking... Still mostly hair and not much substance it seems like though. They feel firm to the scrunch, so maybe there's some goodness in there, but much more to come I suspect. (and hope!)Am I correct in thinking this could not be harvested the way it sits? I'd love to hear anyone chime in when it can be harvested at the earliest. I mean I'm going to wait as long as possible, but minimally would like it to be able to be smoked. I would feel much better when I'm able to know I'm good and waiting just to make it better! Have a good one all! Frost warning again tonight (possible they say) wish me luck!

I`d let that go another 4 weeks min maybe 6
I mean you could flush it out with K and speed it up but you already said you don`t want to do that
most of them white hairs will turn orange, amber or brown and the flowers will swell past the hairs and the fan leaves will yellow and then it`ll be time

Thanks for the info. I read all about when to harvest. The trichomes and all that business. Have a good handle on that. My question to be more specific is: say I harvested it in two weeks due to frost or another reason, is it garbage can with it or would just be not to its potential? No one really talks about that.

In my opinion if you have to harvest early for some reason and doesn't look finished enough to be good smoke I'd turn it into hash. That's what I've done before with plants I had to take to early. It's not the best either, but better than leafy, harsh bud. That's my opinion at least.

It`s like an unripe apple
Some people like a green unripe apple and others like a squidgy red apple
even now after 5- 10 days of drying and a month of curing
that herb will get you really high... probably won`t have much of a body buzz
but the depth comes from maturing the buds
but you can force the plant to ripen faster based on what you feed it
That`s what I your feeding controls the finishing times normally by around 2 to 4 weeks over the plants genetics
but you`ve not been feeding so your plant will flower a bit slower
Still you have good size buds just in 4 to 6 weeks I bet they get more ripe
I`d wait, your plants next to the house, loads of plants in your garden will freeze and die before the frost gets to the canna
I bet you`ll be shocked how deep into winter some people can still flower
I mean I`m in the uk and its getting cold, still got girls outside that are loving it
So I don`t know, when mine die from frost I`ll let you know............ normally even -2c or so won`t kill them as long as its getting over 10c or so during the day they`ll keep growing
but yeah 4 weeks and that thing will be looking nice
much bigger than the c99`s I have outside but less ripe and I`m thinking they need 4 weeks maybe 6 as the english sun is not fattening them up like it does in the summer, lol

go get some tomato bloom food, better than nothing. your plants doing good, but if you gave it a good shot of PK right now it would do better, maybe a lot better. give it about half what the directions say, then a week later do it again, and then i'd stop.

Usually at -7 Deg C plants will have the water outside their cells freeze. This will damage her, but might not kill ! She might survive -5 Deg C.
At -18 the cells freeze inside too - definately lethal !

a light frost usually isn't a problem, may even make things prettier, bring out some reds and purples, heavy frost can do some damage, but even a light freeze makes a slimy mess
