pinching and tipping

Decide based on the height of the plant in nodes. Let the plant grow to 6 nodes and then cut it off at the main stem just above the second true node. This will produce 4 main colas and should perform nicely.

it is now day 14 since the start of my clones. with a 20-4 light routine and flooding for 15 minutes every 2 hours all is well. this is my first grow and i am only growing 2 clones in a closet. there is a new leaf at the top of each plant every 1.5 to 2 days. one clone is 13cm tall and the other is 20cm tall. the smaller of the 2 has been sending secondary shoots for four days and the taller one has one big secondary shoot(10cm) and a bunch of smaller ones. the big shoot isnt growing any extra shoots yet, does anyone recommend pinching or topping this shoot or even the tops of the plants? and if so when do you suggest to do it?
i am thinking of running my 400watt light for 22 hours a day on my 2 plants for the next 4 weeks then cutting it back to 18 hours for 2 weeks then on to flowering with a 11 on and 13 off routine? other than cost, can anyone tell me what would the downsides for this will be?

Hay there man, how you doin....

Sounds to me like you been doing your research, some!....

You can top your plants after they have a min of 3 shoots,
But it is more fruitfull to wait till it has lotza shoots....
I personally top my clones right after they start roots in the cloner!

As for topping or pinching....
if you want more shoots then top,
if you pinch and fold them they will just straigten out unless they are tied down!
I personally us pinch/fold method to keep my flowering ladies the same hight...

Now onto your lights...
doing the clone/veg stages at 24 or 20 or what not hours is kinda a waste of power!
Them young ladies Don't need or Use more then 18 hours worth of light,
This all comes down to personal preference

In the flower section i would run 12/12....
Running a shorter on period is OK at the End of the plants life,
Not before!

Using a shortened light cycle will just stress the plants into thinking it's the end of the season!

Hope that helps ya some.....

thank you for the help. research is why i am here.

since increasing the duration of the light my little girls have taken off. heaps of secondaries are coming through on both of them.

i have also been told that running the lights 11/13 or even 10/14 during flowering will shorten the flowering process, but result in smaller yeild. this is why i chosen the middle ground of 11/13 here.

i am wanting to get my first harvest asap because i am still paying for my smoke and i hate paying for it.

like i said befor this is my first grow, so it is just a case of see what happens. i am hoping for 6 to 10 ounces
