Pistils receding, timeline?

How long does it take from all pistils being brown/orange for them to "recede" into the buds?

I've heard this a few times, that they'll fatten up and the pistils will recede, but I'm not sure whether or not mine have done that.

They're done foxtailing and spitting out new white pistils, how long do I have to go until they are done "fattening" up?

I'm not sure how to gauge if they've receded or not yet. Sample buds were pretty damn good.

I think it's a misleading term.
To me the pistils brown up, aka die,
curl up, and sort of lay on top of the trichomes.
As the bud continues to grow, they only look like they're receding.
Once they die, i don't think they actually recede, as in pull back into anything.

Hah, I'm probably waiting for nothing.

I've seen pics and pics of the "knotty" look they get, with pistils seemingly still inside the bud, which my crowns/foxtails seem to be doing.

I'd been harvesting select colas and top nugs which have had 90-95% browned pistils, trichomes looking good (mainly cloudy, haven't noticed amber, little bit of clears) at day 58.

I left the rest to mature more, and to sample a few of the possible "high-stone" ranges, the buds seem lacking after some drying, so I don't know if they have much fattening up left to do, that's what I'm trying to find out.

Thanks!kiss-ass

you'll notice major swelling of the pods about a week after most pistils die.

I mainly judge the ripeness by the aura color. A ripe plant becomes more orange if you look at it from a distance.
It usually comes with the pods swelling like they are bearing seeds.

The pistils don't really recede, they just die and stop standing straight. It looks like they are coming back to the pods but they don't really get back into it.

This is what I have noticed also.you will walk in one morning and notice that the buds now have this darker amber hue even tho the thrichromes might not be amber, from her I flush,7,10 or 14 days with final phase and flush as long as needed going from yellowing of leaves
