Wow, that's terrifying both in terms of losing her baby and what the state did to her and her husband while they were grieving.

Here in Colorado, there was a famous case of a young child being taken by a mountain lion, aka cougar, from a hiking trail. No one was pursued criminally and years later bones matching the young boy were found in a cave not far from the scene.

Apparently this happens with some regularity;

I freaking went to throw garbage out and 10 ft away a huge mountain lion with a long ass tail bigger than me just walks slowly past me. I was a little shook for a sec, hasn't been back but head is on swivel now. :shock:

Our concerns here are bears and wild dogs. I don't walk out of my house without a firearm after a few close calls with critters on the front porch and driveway. I'm too fat and tasty looking for my own good lol.

Yea wild dogs sound crazy,I've never dealt or really hear about to much around here anyways. I get nervous meeting new dogs that are domesticated I'd be scared shitless with wild ones and they would sense it. Definitely have at least a .22

People are cruel and often dump hunting dogs off out in the boonies to fend for themselves. I live in the deep woods and have had a couple occasions that I had to deal with them. Usually they run off if you yeĺl at them but if they form a pack they can get really dangerous. The worst time is after hunting season as jerks decide the dogs aren't hunting well enough and just turn them loose.

I remember sitting on a bollard on a deserted dock smoking a joint on the graveyard shift. I'd watch the ships go by on the Houston ship channel. Then one night a pack of wild dogs went ambling by, last time I ever went there.

After 9/11 happened I was put on guard duty for our aircraft at Ft. Hood, Texas. We never got issued ammunition so we had no real way to defend ourselves and one night as we we're sitting in a Humvee keeping watch I saw movement out in front of us. The driver flipped on the lights and 20-30 coyotes were cruising by looking for dinner. Never wished for bullets so hard in all my life lol. They hit the trash dumpsters and had a feast.
