My wife says they’re gremlins, and they hide stuff and wait for you to look for them. Once you start looking they put it back in the first place you looked, but only after you’ve looked there twice.

We have a kindred spirit that always makes sure I have just enough ingredients for my recipes. 1/3 cup of oil, 1/2 tsp of whatever, there is always just enough. I think it's my grandmother. That and a mischievous one that hides things and just generally fucks with me. Like the time I dropped a pill on the floor and it landed on edge, twice in a row.
