Also how do you like high wattage CFLs? I currently use 55 watt bulbs and find them nice.

Also for potency you might want to look into a LED panel for that type of setup since it seems like you don't need quantity versus quality. (not saying your plants/setup isn't good now)

I use small cut down 2 litre water bottles, maybe 1.5ltrs of soil max. They fit those outer pots quite tightly and leave about an inch of airspace for the roots to hang in. My CFL's are mostly 45watts each with some 22watts filling in the spaces. As to quality, I am adamant, no difference in potency/quality between HPS and CFL grown buds.

(OLDER PIC) The big plant in the black pot is also a Northern Lights grown in my previous cab with 320watts of CFL's BUT given a conventional 2 weeks veg period. Obviously I cant let my plants get that size now I have the smaller cab but it gives you a good idea of what CFL's can do, yield wise.

They are the same bulbs that I used before I still have one and it's being used in the main light in the lounge lol helps the mrs read her books easier!

Right on man, looks like you have been getting some solid yields off CFLs for awhile now. Im just about to harvest my first CFL grow (just posted pics actually)

Sorry to bump this thread but I have a question. what you do about smell have you a carb inline? but 10/10 for this thread im was thinking of starting a first grow. all the questions about it all kept me from starting until I read this and it made things so simple to work out and what to do many thanks maturesmoker ur a life line for starters

do you think with less light the buds/cola can be less dense ?

a similar argument is often made with 600w hps v 1000w hps
much of the density is of course down to genetics
but from what i can remember not grown with 1000w lights for a long time
the 1000w hps grows some crazy dense buds
these harder dense buds imo are slightly better quality
