Hi Everyone,
New grower / outdoor grower here (Please be patient with me)

I have a medical grow lic and this is my first year growing and of course outdoor in Central Canada (Praries).
We have a very short grow / flowering season so I want to plan better for next year to maximize my area and usefulness with a variety that wont take a million years to finish.

I know everyone claims order from Jordan of the islands and maybe that is great for BC west coast folks but I looking for strains that produce large amounts, and flower in short time frame that have good frost resistance and I can get away with in MB.

Please let me know any suggestions appreciated so I can get next years grow set up better.

Thank you

Light deprivation is the best way, autos is another I guess. Build yourself a tent so you can move pots in and out.Or build a frame that a black tarp can cover.Daily uncovered and covered start flower at end of july or june 15 ish..Greenhouse with heat is nice.
Or like me just grow 4 plants indoors, sooo much easier and better end product.

Love 2 only problem is my lic says outdoor so greenhouse or anything with walls is out, they consider that indoor.
Other problem is I don't live there / second property so moving pots and such in and out not possible as I plant in the ground.
(Agreed on the indoor thing, might be better in some ways but not for wifey...... no comment)

+1 on the light dep running photo clones. Running a med grow with auto's from seed would be silly

You need a mentor imo...bunch of canada growers around...ur success, irregardless of strain you pick, will be how far along you can get the plants before they go inground vs. the projected flowering time requirement.
Getting good at timing for outdoor wont come first grow, sorry, thats why i mentioned mentor.
Anything "mostly indica" is a good start if you have never bought a single seed in ur life

Well you only need to do light dep until Aug 5th ish. From there you dont need to cover.I guess depends how far north you are.
4 plants grown outside in a tent/greenhouse.Tent with clear roof.is another option.Paying for lights though.

Simple fact bro,Canada or most of it doesn't mix with outdoor plants.

TBH I have a mentor, problem is he doesn't necessarily share the growing info, more of a do this do that and voila kind of thing.
We did start 3 varieties (GG # 4 / C99 / LA kush) indoor and then took out after June 1 and planted, they look ok, not best ever but look pretty good so far. I need to make sure I do better though.

No lights or I would need a very long extension cord or a step up transformer or power station along route.
Tenting not an option if I have to be there more then once per week.
Need to set up and do as little as possible for min one week at a time.

How do you plan to run a licensed med grow and only show up once a week? I am really confused
Simple, show up to feed / water / trim once a week. Not sure what is wrong with that? My property = my everything. Not sure how or why that would be a problem? I see guys putting solar powered water systems or have heard of and could use this in future, that is why I am asking this questions now to do things better. I need help not sarcasm or poking fun at. If you have good advice please share if not thanks for reading.

...no you dont, or youd be asking him and the mentor would be answering...
You just told me, in a nutshell, that you did good this year, is it that you don't know where or how to improve?
I just saw the one visit per week requirement so here watch this guys vids

There was no sarcasm there. Running a business, and showing up once a week is a pipe dream.... Any business

I would suggest staying away from “fast” version. I bought into it this year, still have 5 of my 6 in the ground. All fast. All 3 weeks past breeder timelines. And anywhere from 1-3 weeks to go.
I’m in BC. And dealing with single digits nightly. Had to build a canopy to keep the dry from rain, and wet snow expected this week.
There are strains out there that have a shorter flowering time. Genetics. Not “fast” or “auto”. Look for those. That’s what I’ll be doing next year.

I am in the same growing-climate zone as you.
I start vegging Indoors in pots, move outdoors as soon as nights are above 12*C,
I start flowering by bringing inside for dark shock therapy usually for two whole days, and ease it out into the light for a week or two, and then It goes back into the 16hr daylight outside middle of summer and stays in flower (Only ever done this with photo indicas)
Then I Move them back indoors if unfinished as soon as Night time lows are under 12*C. Works for me but requires a light even if you have a south facing window.
