Planning new dwc grow...

I have 2 18-gallon totes I am going to use for an upcoming grow. It will be DWC style of course, but I am not sure if I would rather grow 2 big plants(1 in each tote) or a lot of small ones in these totes.

What would produce the biggest yield based on time, if all other things were equal. 1 plant in each 18 gallon tote or up to let's say 10-12 plants in each tote.

Opinions?

I am assuming the lot of small plants would finish faster since they wouldn't have to veg long at all most likely. Right?

Any benefits to each type of grow?

In an 18 gal tote, I would use six 5" net pots. Let em get 8-10" tall, and start 12-12. Are you starting them off in the tote, or in a starter tray?

I'm planning on using my aero cloner to get em ready to put in the totes.

So, with 6 per tote... What kind of range are we talking as far as yield per plant on a 6-plant tote setup. Would a 1/2 O per plant be reasonable as far as expectations? Is it possible to get an O per plant with this type of setup if you veg longer?

More than 3 gal per plant is pretty much wasted. In an 18 gal tote with say 14 gal of water, I would do 4 lag plants. Yield is impossible to predict. It is based on many factors especially how well the grower does his job, how good the seeds are, how good the nutes and lights are etc etc. But for me, if I grew 4 med plants, which is what I do, I'd be very disappointed if I didn't get 3 oz per plant and I would expect at least 4 per plant.

Hey Illegal Smile,

Thanks for the reply. So, you are saying that if you did 4 plants in an 18 gallon tote... You would expect to get 12-16 ounces off the 4 plants?

You said you would do 4 lag plants? I'm not familiar with that term lag. And if I do only 4 plants in an 18-gallon tote, what size netpots would I then use?

There are to many variables to consider with the limited information. If you try to grow 5 sativa dom plants, there is a good chance the roots are going to choke out. I do 5 indica dom plants, under each 400 hps.
