I'd leave it and see what the broken top does. Sometimes if there is enough material connecting a broken branch, it will continue to receive nourishment from the plant and grow. Worst case scenario, it dies and you remove it.

I had a cucumber plant that was broken at ground level on the main stem, probably 70% through, I just mounded up some dirt to support it and it's still thriving.

It was already wilted bad by the time i found it,guessin it happened a couple days ago. Should i cut the stalk back to the next node?

If it's wilted, then yeah you probably should cut it off. Hopefully it won't affect your yield too much.

damn i just found a top broke and i taped it real good and got bamboo to hold it up that shit grew back in a week. was wilted when i found it but was still connected by just the skin.

I don't think peeps understand what your asking, ahh stoners lol.

i don't think it matters if you leave the break or cut it closer to the next node, if its already healing/scaring over I would leave it just to prevent the risk of infection if you make another chop.

For future reference, pics help. From your first post, I thought you meant it was broken, didn't realize it was broken off. It would appear some of us aren't so smart.
I didn't mean it in a derogatory way either socaljoe :) I'm proudly as bigger stoner as anyone else on here, I just happened to be at work (not stoned) when I read the original post, a rare moment of clarity for me lol

I put the limbs that broke off in a plastic can & added some rain water, to my surprise they all look good. Maybe i can salvage some of my top.

I used to think broken tops were a bad thing, until I recently discovered a method of "supercropping" where you intentionally bend the stalks to open up the canopy, cause a bit more stress and causes the plant to send extra nutrients to the break site. As long as its hanging on, you are in good shape. If it breaks and doesnt bend, then use some tape to keep it together and to keep it from getting infected. Check out supercropping, your broken top might be a blessing in disguise!

you can attach completely broken off limbs with a splint and some tape as long as you do it within the first several hours of the break
