Plant count for 4x4 space

how many should flower in a 4x4 space?

I'm in 3 gal pots and I can fit 16 but afraid when I flip to flower 16 would be too dense and 9 would be a more manageable canopy while being full.

Do you think I will sacrifice over all yields if I do 9 instead of 16?

Lots of topping and bending being done.

The more plants you have, the sooner you should flower. 16 is manageable if you train. If you don't train then you'll be sacrificing yield anyways.

I did 4 plants in a 4x4 and filled up the tent it's all about how long you veg.

I'm counting on chosen genetics to get hella bushy. If they do I plan on 2 per 4x4' tent.

Another question is how high are your tents and how tall are your plants when you flip your timer?

If you're doing 16 you'll want to grow straight bats. Don't try to top them or bush anything. Trim off the lower side growth and train them straight up.

You'll want to do it starting with clones from the same mother, so the growth rate will be the same on all of them. The height of your light will depend on the height of the tallest plant.

If you do fewer plants, you'll veg a little longer, and you can train them with trellis netting to all be close to the same height when you flip. If they are from seeds, you'll get some variations in the stretch.

What type of light are you using? 9 would be less of a headache i feel like with proper training end up with the same result

You could make one plant fill up a 4x4 with a long veg and hella LST. No reason to run more than 4 plants in that, not worth the amount of work your going to have with anything more

After starting back up from few years break i went with an 8x4 with 2x600 hps,
My first run i done 9 under each light with little veg... the place was a jungle and only got 19oz dry

My second run 12 plants with more veg time and i yeilded 29-30oz dry

My third run 12 plants yielded 32oz dry

Less is more

If you have good genetics that you know... I woukd grow 1. I'd you are trying to find a pheno from seed I would do 9. I find less plants is less hastle

lve got 8 in a 4x4 with room for 1 in middle but use mc gyver fan to pull co2 off tent floor into canopy. 7gal round plastic pots. Would use square if want space utilized better. I have hard time getting to back 3 plants.
