its a well documented standard ratio for MJ, look into RIDDLEME's posts.

The guy wanted cheap ferts to try with, i listed everything i use just for a laugh.

This way by giving him a basic npk ratio he should do fine finding something cheap to have a go with.

im happy with what you have said, and ill be using the fert ratios you suggested, ill let you know how it goes,im only doing the 2 plants just to see how well things go , so if it all works out well , next year ill do 4 , and be better prepared :)

So your saying for flowering your going to use a fert with that low a phosphorus ratio? Good luck OP if you use that, I dont know what your plant is going to use to grow buds. With that low a ratio you will NEED to buy and use a bloom booster, that is the only way you could use a ratio like that.

Ok educate us all, what would you use ? what sort of ratio ?

Im using the mix for veg stage at the mo so ive plenty of time to ''look around''

I use Canna Terra, the Veg nutes are 3-1-4 and the Flowering nutes are 2-2-4, but you add the PK13/14 (bloom booster) at 4-5 weeks of flowering (some use for 1 week, some for up to 2 weeks before harvest) to give you the optimal ratios for flowering. Im not being insulting to anyone here, just I think you got some really bad advice for the flowering stage and Im trying to correct it. Look around this site, Google "Cannabis Nutrient Ratios", they'll all say you need a fert with a higher (but not too high) ratio of P for flowering (or in my case a fert with a specific bloom booster for a specific point in flowering to give that ratio).

(The previous poster even uses Canna Coco, so obviously the company he uses he thinks are correct?)

Yes i do use CANNA. I was trying to give the guy a standard ratio that will work for him to get his feet wet with. My NPK of CANNA COCO is 5 4 3 and is the same formula for both veg and bloom with added PK during bloom. The vega series you use is different again. So which one is right with the ratios?

There are many different brands with varying NPK ratios,

OP at the end of the day the decision is yours and the advice i have given you, i stand by.

The ratios vary because of the differing cation exchange capacities of the mediums, the reason you use the bloom booster is to increase the PK value of your ferts for the time just after the stretch has ended and you get real fruit development. All of Cannas formulas have a high PK ratio for flowering (varying slightly depending on medium), just Canna apply these formulas at the optimum time of growth as opposed to a general fertiliser that is less specific but less time-tuned (eg. tomato ferts, other general long term flowering ferts).

The ratio you originally provided for flowering is either a mistake, or is intended to be used with a bloom booster in flower (like yours and my PK13/14), but definately should not be used on it own in soil, because you will have stunted growth and bud development from a complete lack of Phosphorous in the nutrients.

Not trying to argue, just trying to help!

Im not arguing either.

And you are correct about the PK boost with ratio i provided..

I completely understand about the CEC of different mediums etc.

Slightly off topic HARR , have you heard about the "DUTCH PRO" line of nutes?

Very interesting reports going around about this line, supergreen plants , no def's etc.

Its got my attention to try it at some point..

im a total amateur , i came here for a few hints and tips, nothing more :)

So ill stick with the ratios mentioned unless can anyone name some readily available nutes for the flower stage ?
Would be ideal for me really , it might save a thread later , im somewhat confused now over what ratio to use for flower stage , i was planning on sticking with what i have been told...

Basic tomato feed is usually great for growing ganga on a budget, its nutrient requirements are very similar to one of our plants. I use Canna Terra for growing my tomatoes (theyre interchangable ferts).

But OP I wouldnt use the original ratio you were given without a bloom booster, or just pick up some tomato feed.

Never heard of Dutch Pro, they dont sell it around here.
