Hello all,

I have had this problem start about 2 weeks ago. Plants started to lighten up only on certain parts of the plant. Fan leaf stems started turning prurple. a couple days ago I started to loose banches. I have lost 5 so far. It started on one plant and now I have about 6 that are showing signs. I have two strains in my garden. Green Crack, and Sour D. It is only happening on the GC. They are about 3 weeks in flower. about 2 weeks ago I gave them some Maxsea 3-20-20, and then I started to notice this problem. The SD don't have any problems and are on the same diet. My buddy said it was a calcium def. My well water is at a 250 ppm just by it self. By what I could find out on this forum and others is that I gave to much potassium to early and there was not enough Mag. which locked up the calcium. I added some epsom salts this morning.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Your plants could be a little Nitrogen defecient with their size. Consider a good all around formula of NPK so that you can bring up all those levels and probably give the root system a good soaking so that it can rehydrate. Def looks a lil dry.

Do you use beneficial bacteria & carbohydrates?

I was using compost Tea, but have switched to EM1. I was thinking it could have been a bacterial infection caused by the tea, so I put some Seranade in them yesterday. No more tea, only EM1 now. They are not FINE. There is defenatley somthing wrong. Look at the pics where my my lower branches are wilting and dying. They have had plenty of water also, almost to the point of overwatering. The last pic is of a healthy plant.

What causes fan leaf stems to turn purple?

Thanks for the replies though.

Seranade will kill off the beneficial bacterias in the soil. If you're gonna do this, you might as well do it the cheap & effective way. Using Hydrogen Peroxide will get rid of all those pathogens in the soil, as well as oxygenate your whole root system and do some good there.

Purple stems can be a couple things. In my previous experience, I've found that they show purple stems when I've had low Cal-Mag levels. I use Botanicare Cal-Mag Plus and that solves the problem in no time. Some people prever to use Epsom Salts and dissolve them into their feeds.

That sounds like a good idea. How much Hydrogen peroxide do I use per gallon? I have been adding Cal mag and threw in some epsom salts this morning. So they could possibly be underfed?
