Plant Yields

Hello, on many seed sites plant yield is measured in gr/m2. What does this mean? If the strain big bud has a yield of 600 gr/m2 does that mean the plant with proper care will produce 600 grams? Also, is that dried weight? Thanks Very Much!

are you sure that what it means? i thought it meant 600 grams per square meter. so if your 1 plant takes up 1 square meter then it will produce 600 grams. but 1 square meter is a big bushy plant. 1 square meter = 10.764 square feet !

I think that it means 600g if you spread the bud out over one square meter after drying. That type of quanity never really made sense to me either though. I dont think that it's a measure on the size the plant before havested bc it would make more sense if they were referring to a g/volume rather than a g/area for that kind of measurement. So in a way i think it could be construed as an index for density.

I have looked at different seeds and the yields, and wondered the same. Maybe someone should email the company and inquire about it?

What yields have you guys seen on a Big Bud or White Widow plant growing indoors? Meaning total dried weight from a single plant.

that can vary greatly depending on how long you veg for. a plant that was vegged for 6 month will produce way more bud then a plant that was vegged for 1 month

wrote to one of the seed banks and they said.......

"If you grow one plant on a square meter, it can give as much weight as
you grow 10 plant on that same space, but if you grow one, the plant
need much more growing time, before you can start to flower.

If you use 10 plants, than 2 weeks growing time is enough to start
flowering."

...Hope that helped.

grower_elim so they add up a total of g with all the seeds?

Thats the only way if you actually think about it. I just harvested two ak-48 plants that vegged for over two months and flowered for eight weeks and got 65 grams off one and 70 on the other. So a 600 gram plant is i believe impossible unless you veg a plant for a year.

They mean 600grams/m^2 dried bud, experienced grower, SEA OF GREEN STYLE. This is the standard most seed sites use.

Actually, the yield in g/m2 usually refers to the amount of bud produced by any number of plants. A single plant taking up an entire square meter is ridiculous. If you grow 6 plants in one square meter, they will fill the space more quickly than 4 plants filling the same amount of space. However, marijuana quite literally 'grows like a weed' and will fill any amount of space you give it. So it really has nothing to do with the number of plants.

If the estimated yield of Big Bud (or whatever strain) is 500-600 g/m2, it means that if you grow any number of Big Bud plants to fill the space of one square meter , you can expect to have a yield of 500-600 grams of bud total from those plants. This of course is with the "Sea of Green" method. And usually the yield is the dried weight.

dude im growing big bud indoors under good conditions too..
when the sites say 600g per m squared they are referring to the amount of plants you have growing within a m squared

Some seedbanks don’t say yield as in g/m2. Take Hemcy for example, their Big Bud description just say; "Yield: Up to 800 grams!" I guess they leave it up to you to find out what it really is or means.

600g/m2= 600 grams every square meter...whether its 30 SOG plants, or 4-5 biggins...Grown correctly with nutes n such, you should yield AROUND 600 grams for each square meter of canopy

thats awfully ignorant to assume, just bc i didnt get that much its impossible? ppl can yield that indoors and ppl can yeild more if they want. it is my belief that yeilds listed on seed distributor sites, are nothing more than a sales pitch, so ppl read it and think thats the average yeild and will easily achieve it. when thats not the case

there is no way u can guestimate a yield until nearly the end..depends on nutes, temp, lighting, himidity, veg time..and alot more. those quotes are in a perfect world not mine and urs.
