Plants Dying, Need Your Help!!- Lots Of Pics

Guys I need your help, it seems like everything I try doesn't help, so I don't know what to do now so I am asking for your help. The plants are about 5 weeks old. The reason they are so small is because I left them in the rockwool cubes too long before transplanting into the pots 11 days ago. This obviousally stunted their growth, but new roots have formed I believe. I'm using Flora Nova Grow and H202 35% (1/4 cup per 80qts). The PPM was 1050 yesterday and thought it might have been nute burn so I bumped it down to 850ppm and today the yellowing burnt tips looks worse. The PH is about 5.5-6.0. They get watered about every 5 hours. Is this a defficancy? Do I need more nutes for their age? I don't know what to do. All your help is greatly needed and much appreciated. Thanks!!

Is that a CFL you are using?

Try not to over analyze. They do not look too bad and should do fine, just monitor the PH and EC closely. Most new hydro growers drown their plants with nutrients when they only really need to correct the PH or EC levels. Good luck.

No it is a 400 watt MH. I got it free from work. It's a commercial light that we were putting in a school gymnasium. Should I up the nutes or does 800ppm sound right for 5 week old plants?

800 sounds good. I'm goin through the same thing here, i.e. left em in the cubes too long. What i did was went to the Hydro store and got a bottle of Advanced Nutrients Revive. I added the amount stated on the instructions and then added my nutes. The revive brings up your PPMs, so i checked em after the revive, and then added nutes till the PPMs were at 850. I kept it that way for a week, gave it a flush, and then put in the nutes only back to the same 850 for another week. Since that i've been raising 100PPm per week. Seems to have worked. This will slow the growth. Don't expect to see any growth for the week they are on the revive if you decide to do it. I also mixed the revive as a foliar spray and sprayed them the beginning of the second week after the flush. Another thing you wanna try is raising the light so the plants want to stretch out. I have the same 400 MH light with my setup, and it did make a difference when i raised it. Hope this helps man, Good Luck!

Sounds like a good sales pitch!! What is Revive?

Ha! It does sound like a sales pitch. Revive is made by Advanced Nutrients, my friend recommended it. It says on the bottle that it fixes stressed plants and corrects nutrient defeciencies. Did I spell that right? Anyway, just a suggestion, but i just went through the same thing keeping them in the cubes too long. Were your roots brown at the bottom?

Not trying to be argumentative, but why would you want your plants to stretch?? I keep my light as close to my plants as they can stand to optimize lumens and to keep my plants short and busy....I like 10" plants with 12 nodes.......not 2' plants with 8 or 9......I would strongly suggest some more reflectivity (mylar, panda, et al) to trap more light....not make them get less by making the already stressed plants work harder to get to the light....only move the light if it is harming/burning the plants........they look ok....don't stress too hard....don't love em too much......just take care of them....monitor ec/ppm, ph, and temp/rh....these things first, then on to nute problems.....I have fixed 80% of my issues environmentally, not auquatically.....for your help, I have attatched a lumens output chart for HID lighting (particulary HPS but MH is close)

How are the pants now? Whenever in doubt.. change reservoir water.. and lower ppms...


Have you ever checked the PPMs of your water straight outta the tap? Some times... local waters are so hard taht they can not be used for hydroponic or aeroponic grows..

They don't look too bad, but 1050 ppm was probably way too high for their age. I'm sure it depends on strain, but I have never fed a plant in veg anywhere near 1000ppm and they always grow good. I'm not sure about Flora Nova nutes and what their recommended mix is for veg growth, but remember they are trying to sell you nutes and aren't going to recommend you use any less than the maximum.

Don't give them more nutes, I would say by your plants that 600-800 would probably still be more than you need but wouldn't be killing the plant. What strain was this again????

Just don't worry so much, remember that adjustments aren't going to show immediately either...it takes time for all of the biology to happen and your chemicals to get to the leaves (and then to clean the system out as well). The plants don't really look all that bad, many here have done much worse as far as burning the hell out of there plants goes.

garden makes a good point about the tap water. Remember GIGO -- Garbage In, Garbage Out!

I agree with you on the light height, but it looked a little close to me from the picture. It did look like one of the plants had a little burn on it..
