Plants Dying?

Hi, this is my first grow, here is what I'm working with

Light: 400 Watt MH-about two feet from plants
Soil: Happy Frog in cloth buckets
Water: Every 3-4 days
Nutes: Fox Farm TRIO
Growing: GG#4 Auto
Age: Approx. 3 1/2 weeks
Temp-72-79
Humidity: 50-70


The growth on two of my plants has me concerned, the new growth at the top of the plant at the bud site started off as green, but has and still is turning yellow *Top Left second pic*. Other leaves have started changing as well, some fan leaves even have brown spots developing *First pic* along with yellowing spots on the rest of the leaf

The other plant has been having problems with just brown spots cropping up, I have pruned a few of them off, but they keep making a comeback

I have only used nutes once, in the last feeding two days ago, it hasn't helped what's going on at all, and I don't want to lose any of the four girls I have-The two oldest plants are having similar issues *First set of pictures*, I didn't see a point in posting image sets for both, but

Check the undersides of leaves for pests. That could be the source of those spots. Also looks like you may have some type of nute deficiency.

Also if you can try to get your humidity down closer to 35/40%. 70% is asking for bud rot down the road.

Happy Frog is not as loaded with nutrients the way Ocean Forest is. Most growers using Ocean Forest can go 30 days or longer before fertilizing. I don't think it's the same with Happy Frog. If you just added nutes and have a deficiency, it takes 5-10 days sometimes to see improvements.

at this point, i'm going to say cal and mag deficiencies, both just getting started. add some ca-mag for a couple of feedings, see if that doesn't stop the spread.
don't trim leaves off of a plant unless they're about to die. a few spots doesn't mean the leaf can't photosynthesize, now they have a problem and have to regrow leaves too. the plant doesn't care if its pretty, you do.
the damage won't go away, but it should stop spreading.

Yeah sometimes I burn the fuck out the upper leaves by moving from CFL veg to LED flower and having the light too close, but they do green up some after that. I just pick off the actual brown dried bits. After that there's still lots of brown areas but the plant still grows from the remaining green parts. Those little yellow spots are nothing compared to my burnt up plants.

i just did exactly the opposite, changed my mh in my veg tent to a led and burnt the crap out of a couple of plants, because it didn't look as bright as my mh.....

The top leaves are actually starting to turn green again so, right you are on that one, sir

In my defense, I only did it because I was concerned about it maybe being leaf sephora, I didn't want it to spread to any of the other girls so I clipped-good to hear it's most likely just a deficiency though. So i know epsom salt is good for magnesium, what about for calcium? Is there something you use for both?


Thanks for all the help guys, I plan to add epsom salt into my next feeding without any nutrients, I read that feeding them constant nutrients every feed is bad for autos, unfortunately the damage has gotten worse on a lot of the leaves, I'm starting to think I may have a pest problem, I have All seasons Horticulture 210 and Captain Jacks dead bug pesticides on the way, if nothing else I suppose it pays to be cautious and preventative. I have indeed checked the underside of the leaves, I'm still not sure if I have pests though, I have seen some black spots which I have read could be dropping and I have seem some amber tinted specks on them as well, but after staring them down with a magnifying glass, none of them moved, I removed them in the name of caution but even if I have bugs I don't have the faintest idea what they would be.

There are a few leaves on two plants that have these markings on them, they seem to be primarily confined to the middle leaves

yes, its called cal-mag. i have epsom salts more for the sulfur than the mag, but its good for both. i also have ferti-lome yield booster, which is for tomatos, but its just a foliar calcium spray. cal mag is good stuff, but it comes with iron and nitrogen as well, and sometimes i don't need all that, so i use one or the other of these things to get just what i want.

If there were tiny larvae on the underside of the leaf they can be very hard to see with a magnifying glass that doesn't have the extra little high power magnifier on it. I would remove the leaf and scan it entirely with the high power view and be able to find the things. Unfortunately, if you do have a bug problem, you are going to have plenty of more leaves to experiment with.
