plants yellowing with brown spots

I vegged under cfl. I don't remember the soil I started with; it was NOT mg but it was potting soil purchased from lowes. After the soil ran out I used mg, so when these first 2 got repotted to bigger pots I used mg. flowered under 400 watt hps.

Here is a bagseed strain (E-3) at 20 days:

Here is a different bagseed strain (H-1) at 20 days into flowering:

And here is the sister of E-3 in veg. I used mg soil for this girl. Both plants in flower looked like this one does before moving to flower. She looks super healthy to me.

whats wrong with my babies?

Looks like nute burn to me mate.. stop using MG as it'll nuke your plants and is way to high in nitrogen for flowering. Try and use plain ph'd water for a week or two and be sure to let your soil dry out thoroughly between waterings. Is that just soil? I can't see and perlite or vermiculite to help with drainage, any sharp sand? Did you add dolomite lime to compensate for magnesium usage? How far away from canopy is your 400 HPS? What is you room temperature and humidity level? If you vegged under HPS or your light is too far away your plants will stretch like fuck because there's not enough blue light spectrum (UV) with HPS bulbs. The bottom pic looks ok mate but a bit stretched. I'd try and train the branches a bit more vertically and buy a 400 metal halide bulb for vegetative growth as cfl's have little intensity or penetration so need to be really close to canopy. kind regards

ps bagseed has a higher probability of growing testicles as it's mum had most likely already done that, hence seedy bud. Also buy a bloom nute for flowering like Advanced nutrients iguana juice or similar and go easy on it to start with.

I was referring to MG nutrients not MG soil. My buddy uses MG soil and has had no problems with burning or fungus gnat infestations unlike myself who had to bake my shit in the oven. not pleasant lol. I think it's down to luck with MG like how old it is and how it's been stored. I use John Innes potting compost with perlite, sharp sand, blood and bone meal and dolomite lime and water it for a bit to 'run it in'. Each to their own and all that. cheers for comment lol.

Also jawbrodt I just read ur thread and yeah I found bark, roots and even plywood in MG before. I live in UK so wonder how you found similar in USA? I wouldn't recommend it for growing nettles but my mate swears by it. Maybe once he's had bud full of gnats he'll think differently. good thread though.

additional.. MG nitrogen is derived from UREA which is fucking disgusting IMO. Cow piss bud anyone? lmfao

What kind of nutes are you using, and what PH do you mix them at? Water PH?
I have nutes but I have been watering them with just plain tap water. No pH adjustments.

And to answer others questions:

The room gets to about 80-85* depending on outside temp, and drops to 70* or so at night. The humidity fluctuates, but is staying around 40% I think. The soil is a mix of 50% soil and 50% perlite. The nomenclature I follow is an arbitrary letter followed by the generation. So the last pic is E-4, meaning my "E" strain and it's the 4th generation (clone of a clone of a clone of the original E-1 grown by seed). "E" has never hermied on me. I got rid of other plants that hermied.

lolz some1 reads a thread that gone wrong :p

when half of the leaf dies and rest seems ok its a phosphorus deficiency

In that case Guy, I'd say it's probably a combination of nitrogen, phosphorus and magnesium deficiency. I don't know what nutes you have to hand but I suggest giving them 1/4 strength bloom feed to start with and either 1 tsp epsom salts per gallon or some cal/mag on different days to your bloom (ie.. bloom on Monday and epsom salts on a Thusday) preferably. It's quite important to get a ph tester (or litmus paper kit.. they are very cheap) and test your water as it's probably quite hard and alkaline (I use a 150 gallon per day R/O filter but they are quite expensive). Remember to add nutes to water first then test and adjust ph accordingly. Don't remove any more leaves as plant is using them to stay alive, just pick up the ones that fall off. I'd probably buy some regular seeds and just pull the males out when they show under flower unless you plan on keeping a mum.. I keep a mum for clones but wouldn't use a clone of a clone of a clone from bagseed it's just not worth the risk. Hope this helps. Anyone else want to chip in?

yeah Bonjo is right but bloom is low in nitrogen so should be ok. Please don't use Miracle Gro nutes. Buy a decent quality bloomer and a ph tester. You'll not be disappointed.

Why would it matter what generation of clone it is? I started with a number of bag seeds. I took clones, then flowered. I destroyed all males and their clones. I finished flowering the rest with significant problems. I terminated the genetic lines of all the plants that hermied. Out of 5 plants, I ended up with one genetic line that didnt herm and actually seemed to do great in flower (currently curing this ones mother - so I havent smoked it. Looks and smells beautiful though). I've been taking clones from the plants a couple weeks before I move them into flowering so I have the next generation ready to go. I am happy with my "E" plants (aside from these obvious problems). I plan to keep that bottom one as a mother and grow it large. Then flower it after a few months when it gets humongous, and replace it with a clone and grow another mother.

Will i run into any problems by cloning clones? I was under the impression that its a perfect clone and could theoretically be carried out for an infinite number of generations. I always take the clones from healthy plants in veg.

The 2nd plant is a new strain. It was a seed from the best batch I have ever purchased.

I have some pro bloom from botanicare that is 1-4-5 for flowering, but I was afraid they were getting burned by the soil so i've been using plain tap water. I also have some schultz 10-15-10 all purpose plant food that I was using for veg and they loved it. I'm afraid there might be residual 10-15-10 fert that is now burning them in flower now too.

So should I start feeding with the 1-4-5 and see if that helps? Should I repot them into better soil? Or will that be too much stress this late into flowering? I would really hate to fuck these up and have to waste 3 weeks of flowering time and a couple months of veg time I put into these 2 plants, but I do have their genetic lines preserved and I would also hate to get shitty quality bud. I'm not sure if I would be better off scrapping them and replacing them with new clones, or trying to ride it out. I am staying within my legal limit of 12 plants, so if I keep these alive its at the cost of not starting 2 new plants asap.

Hi again Guy, yes use the botanicare at 1/4 strength the recommended dose to start with . Like you said don't repot as it's ball ache for you and stress for your plants. I'm pretty confident taking clones from clones repeatedly degrades the quality and yield over generations so I personally pick a strong mother and take all my cuts from her. As long as you leave her in veg she'll pretty much live forever giving you unlimited G1 babies. just give her some nutes after taking clones or once a month if your giving her a recovery period. Your girls should see improvement over next couple of weeks but don't go crazy with bloom. Get some epsom salts too as they love their magnesium during flower. Any problems pm me if you want but there are tonnes of helpful people on RIU. Kind regards m8

additional.. don't use the schultz.
additional additional.. google 'bonzai cannabis mother' if space is a problem, if you use square pots it's easy to trim roots and repot a mother or you can just top her and you'll get more new shoots growing.

The problem was a fungus called septoria. It was identified in another thread. Just wanted anyone reading this thread to know so they don't spend months and months wasting time and crops because RIU and other communities can't identify the problem!

Made sure I had healthy plants. My environment isn't perfect, but if I dont stress the plants they stay nice and green. Still using MG soil and botanicare nutes.
