Plasma lighting

Has anyone heard of plasma lighting? IF so what is your take on it...I believe I read somewhere that It produces more reletive power than the SUN!!!!!!

BIG PURple, in fact big at every wavelength, the "One Lamp", Sulphur Plasma Light or Sulphur Microwave Lamps are now available from Island Systems. More green light, more blue light and more red light than ever ! 1000w Sulphur Microwave Lighting systems are usually only supplied to Research centers for sustainable plant and crop growth without sunlight, and of course NASA, but giving a near sunlight power and truly Full Spectrum, massive PUR, their incredible efficiency means that 1000w SP = 2500w HID in terms of photoponic output. Secondly, by adapting your plants to the 20 hour day, so 10 hours light and 10 hours dark, with 1000wSP you can use this short day technique to reduce total flowering period by 20%, but because of its awesome photoponic power the yield will be the same or more, in 20% less time and half the electricity!

From what I've read, this sounds very interesting. i looked into led's a while back but it would be too expensive to set up, especially without any guidelines to follow.

But this sounds very interesting. I understand the plasma part, but what about the purple light? Is this the perfect mixture of red and blue that I've been looking for? On my larger grow, we alternate red and blue bulbs throughout the entire cycle, with an extra blue during veg and an extra red during flower.

These lamps cost over $2000...However they use less energy than HIDs with same lumen output. so actually in the long run they'll pay for themselves. I hope the heat generated by these lamps are less then hids as well because that would save me even more on running fans to cool the room down.

How much just for the bulb? I'm assuming a ballast and fitting could be bought separately.

My bulbs (400w) cost me 15 pounds ($30) each. These bulbs last for a year before having to change them. If the same can be said for the purple bulb, you'd need to grow a lot of extra plants to cover the extra cost.
