Hi, I am currently waiting on two seeds. bio diesel mass auto-flowering and a Samara punky lion feminized photo-period.

I am solely interested in growing auto flowering cannabis at this stage in my growing life. so can i get any tips for a brand new grower on what i should focus on in my first grow of auto flowering cannabis?

i own 8 23 watt cfl's 2 5 gallon pots and a bag of FFoF and perlite...

my growing space in a 6x4 closet. white walls.

that's my current equipment i can work with as of right now and will not be able to purchase anything else until the 27th and then maybe only 50 us dollars worth.

any tips and tricks as well as helpful hints anybody can give somebody new on what i can do/focus on through my little auto's growth i would appreciate.

Be careful with the auto when you germ it, they have a funny tap root. Either plant her straight in your 5 gal pot, or in something like a peat pod where you can bury the peat pod in the 5 gal when its time to up pot it. Get a fan, this helps move air, which will give you a stronger stem, and will keep temps down, LST works good with autos (in my personal experience) I have not topped any, I don't think it would be worth it, however, I have seen several posts on RIU that have said otherwise, I might try something like that later. Unless the breeder has stated a different time, 20/4 is the best lighting you can have, 24/0 is even better (more light usually= bigger auto)

5 gallon for an auto seems a waste. Heck when i first got interested in growing I thought auto flowers were the way to go, honestly photo period plants are just better honestly.

i didn't know i could just leave the lights on lol.. great to find out though. oh and as its my first grow im not sure if i want to try anything with the plants that i haven't even looked up yet lol so i'm thinking LST is out. oh and i have a fan i can just open door to closet for a little while each day and let it blow in there.....

i have 3 gallon pots but i watched a few videos from "thegro pro" and hes been growing for 5 or so years with autos and uses a 7 gallon pot and recommends at least 5. he states he gets 3-6 ounces per plant.... not sure honestly but figured he knew what he was going on about in one of the hour long streams he did on how to grow auto's.

that is true... never thought about how much more along he is compared to my little setup. 5 gallons would be a waste until i get the right setup going. eh lol i guess since i'm just starting it would be a fun experiment to grow 2 autos. one in 3g pot and one in 5g... give it same treatment and use same strain and see what happens. most fun I've had in years sadly lol.

CFL's are not strong enough for as big as those plants are going to get. You shouldn't go bigger than three gallon.

You may be surprised by what you can get out of both autos and cfl's....., but I would at least upgrade to a 250w compact cfl..

This beautiful, freebie from attitude on my last order surprised the shit out of me... As it was my 2nd auto, the first one didn't do shit, so not expecting much, I just kept her in my veg room which is under 250w cfl, 24/24. Fox farm ocean forest, 5 gallon container from seed. Yield still sucks, probably only going to get about 1oz, but damn look at these nugs! Fucking gorgeous! Green Poison by Sweet Seeds. Shit looks better than any of my other strains that get much more attention in my grow room... Its made me rethink autos all together, had no clue you could get this kind of quality out of one.. I don't think I will ever just grow autos, but I will definitely grow a few more for sure.

Oh, with the 50 bucks you may have on the 25th, the number 1 thing I would have on my list would be the upgrade in lighting. for 50 bucks you can get a 125w compact cfl reflector and bulb, and the next thing on my list would be another 125w cfl.. this way you can have a 2700 and 6500 bulb for a dual spectrum setup. You can always upgrade the lighting, but two 125w cfls will give you plenty to get you going.

Yep, autos have surprised me with quality, taste, resin... not so much yield but every single other quality has been top-notch. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them but I'd definitely grow them again. Problem is, any hiccup or slowdown in growth will affect your yield, once you plant them the clock is winding down and anything that stresses the plant or holds her back cannot be made up for with a longer veg period. For that reason I would never grow autos in a hard-sided pot, I would never transplant an auto, and I would never top or clip an auto. Maintaining perfect hydration (not too dry, not too wet) will go a long ways towards maxing out an auto as well.

With your setup, I'd grow one auto in a 5 gal fabric pot and dedicate all your bulbs to that one. Foxfarm products are overpriced but work well, prefer the organic method myself. I'd say you pull 2 ounces under the best conditions. Good luck!!
