Please help me diagnose this problem!

This is my med grow. I've got 6 little babies and they all are changing color on me.

There is yellow on some of the tops. I can't tell if its lack of nutes, nute lockout, too high PH, salt buildup, etc.

The last time I watered (two days ago) I forgot to fix the PH so, I know that the tap water I used was too high.

I'm using Soul Sythetics Grow which is 3-1.25-1.25. I went light on that nute.

So, I went back in with properly PH'd H2O today with a little clearex in it - for a little flush - just in case.

Do any Veterans out there have any opinions?

pH Fluctuation:
Both of these leaves in figure 6 and figure 7 are from the same plant. It could be over fertilization, but more likely it is due to the pH being off. Too high or too low a pH can lock up nutrients in the form of undisolvable salts and compounds, some of which are actually toxic to the plants. What then happens is the grower then tries to supplement the plants diet by adding more fertilizers, throwing off the pH even more and locking up even more nutrients. This type of problem is seen more often in soil mixes, where inconsistent mixing of the medium's components leads to "hot" spots.

Thanks for your reply. They are about 4-wks old - I've only had them for 1.5 wks.
Some of the burn could be due to a little water that got splashed on them before getting a nozzle that I control better; I did water them when the lights were on;
Some of it might be nute burn. But the yellowing on the edges leads me to believe it's something else. Or, that it's a combo of things.

4 weeks the stems should be stronger thicker rather i think your in a nute lockout situation ,

what kinda soil? looks like mg potting. most soils have some nutrients in them. that, added to your nutes could have them at their limit.

Potassium deficiency:
Older leaves are initially chlorotic but soon develop dark necrotic lesions
(dead tissue). First apparent on the tips and margins of the leaves. Stem and branches may become weak and easily broken, the plant may also stretch. The plant will become susceptible to disease and toxicity. In addition to appearing to look like iron deficiency, the tips of the leaves curl and the edges burn and die.
Potassium - Too much sodium (Na) displaces K, causing a K deficiency. Sources of high salinity are: baking soda (sodium bicarbonate "pH-up"), too much manure, and the use of water-softening filters (which should not be used). If the problem is Na, flush the soil. K can get locked up from too much Ca or ammonium nitrogen, and possibly cold weather.

more info rom the faq's ,i have some of this going on myself we have salt in our water here too close to the gulf of mex.

It's not PH. The soil already has enough nutes in it for several weeks. Adding more is causing your problem. That is classic nute burn. Flush with 1 gallon water per gallon of soil and let it set for about a week. They might recover.

Thanks, they're in a coco fiber and pearlite mix. They might be 4 wks I'm guessing; got them as clones. I did flush today-might see a difference in a couple of days. But, should they be yellowing when they have too much nutes?

Cheap soil will work as long as you don't then add more nutrients the plant does not need. I assume that is a commercial potting soil so it will PH buffer to about 7 and should not have any salinity level too far out of wack. Giving them too much love will kill them. The look pretty damaged already man. ... Flush and watch new growth to see how u r doing cause the damaged stuff has had it. Good luck.

my first grow i worried about PH all the time.........was always trying to fix it.
well this time around i checked my ph was 6.2 5 weeks ago..........and now look @ them !!!!
my water is filtered i use Sunleaves bat guano;s and BMO never had a ph problem...........so quit fucking with shit and u will b alright ....ROCK ON!!!!!!!

o ok. coco and perlite. That's an important piece of info as that is an inert medium and has no nutes in it already. Meaning what you feed it what it gets.

The mix u r using is fine blend for veg. Now that we know there is no nutes to begin with I'm changing my diagnosis. Many times burn and deff look alike cause overfert of 1 type or another locks out other minerals.

I now say nute deff. Final answer alex!.

OP, i said it way back. ur killing ur plants. i order you to pour 2 gallons of water though the soil of your pots. set them near a floor drain, in the bath, or the sink.

fill jugs with tap water and let them sit overnight. then use water next day. just pour the water into the pots real slow. let them dry up over the course of a few days. then water every other day. get a schedule. water, nute, water, water, water, nute, water, water, water, nute, water, and etc.

i'm guessing your ph is on the acidic side.
