ok right now i have a mini grow and am in veg right now. i have all 20 watt 6500k cfls now for veg. and i know its better to switch to 2700 k cfls for budding ....but here is the question- what wattage of 2700k do i use ( higher or lower?)and should i use the same amount of cfls as i use for vegging .? and would u gradualy change the lights from 6500 to 2700 for budding.

when you switch to flowering you normally need more lights for more buds. you could get higher wattage 2700k cfls but the higher the watt the lower the lumen output is; i like using the 43w or the 26w. i would also use a couple of the 6500k lights for flowering because it will help increase the potency as long as you keep it further away than the 2700k ones. i like to keep my spectrums at a 3:1 ratio. also when budding with cfls you will need to keep them surrounding the plant and within 1-3 inches away for the best possible coverage/lumen output for the plant. you will also get more out of cfls if you either angle them or have the side of the light facing the plant than the bottom.

good luck and happy growing

As clasonade mentioned already.

Get as many cfl's as you can and surround the plants. The more the better.

The 23w equal a 100w regular incandesent bulb.

I got 22 cfl's around 2 plants right now to give you an example.

Get them as close as possible without burning your plants!

Good luck bro....

in my opinion i would say 100 watts would be the minimum on each plant to get a good amount of bud in the harvest. i think the 42w cfls are like 150 watt equivalent.

Look at your lumen output too. The minimum you want is 3000 lumens per square foot. A 150 watt HPS puts out about 16,000 Lumens total. My CFL micro grow is in flower now, 2 plants LST'ed. 2 x 42 watt, 2700k, 2600 lumens and 1 x 27 watt, 5500k, 1700 lumens. 111 watts total. 6900 lumens total. 58 watts/sq ft. 3630 lumens/sq ft. And it does quite well, I only grow for my own personal needs. And I have always read that good mix of spectrum is good. 3:1. blue:red for veg and red:blue for flower.

Also, with CFLs you should consider topping or topping + LST. Keep em low and close to the lights. Thats the key to fat buds w CFLs, close to the lights.

There is a shit ton of really good CFL growing info here. Good reading and good growing!

Cheers!

Day 63 Blooming Day 5

This is what I use for my 4 plants all girls because there clones.

So this is how they look after 5 days of blooming, prior to blooming they had 62 hours of total darkness (I wanted to try this out b/c I've heard it may speed up time forplants to grow pistils).
So far no mites seen.
The plants are 18" tall now, they where 16" tall 2 days ago.
The run down PPM 511
PH 6.0
RES 7.25 Gallons
LENGTH 18"
DEGREES 77
LUMENS 17,200
KELVINS
2700 X 9 CFLS ,5000 X 1 CFL
