ok i understand thats very good to know. ive never done dwc before so you would know better than me about this weird slime i keep hearing about. i do ebb n flow so its different. hellraizer i appreciate all the advice it makes alot of sense. since i think theres no slime in ebb n flow than im hoping that h202 works as good as bleach. i just wish you ran a similar system to me cause you would have already ran all the tests. i sometimes have overwatering problems with my rockwool so i consider h202 a better fit for me cause it adds oxygen29% h202 and yah even at 300 there was still sign of slime

I do ebb flow and no dwc just to let you know
what do you use for a medium? if you dont use the tea or bleach you see slime on the roots themselves or in the res? these are the last questions i have for you hellraizer im not tryin to be a pain

I like and use rw but have used hydrotron and silica grow rock, perlite.
Slime first shows up in the res on air stones and the pumps the your roots, look
For brackish water and a strait up poop smell from your res, a shure fire way to
Monitor your res is take a white sock fill it with perlite and throw it in, have a string
Acttached to it to pull it up, and if it looks slimy

If your using H202 to add oxygen why not do it the right way and add more airstones with a bigger air pump?

in my opinion using airstones in a res for ebb n flow is useless. moving water adds way more oxygen than any airstone can do and when the tray is being flooded the water is moving. also as soon as the rockwool etc gets flooded then theres nothing an airstone can do, theres just water sitting in the medium. h202 adds way more oxygen then even moving water, way more!! a friend of mine has a lab grade oxygen meter and we ran all the tests and came to that conclusion. this is the reason i like h202 so much. theres pretty much no way to get as much oxygen to the roots as using h202 when your using rockwool or a dwc system. my friend had a dwc res with some of the best air pumps on the market, his res looks like a damn wirlpool!. the water read 6.5 on the meter. we then tested 1 gal of water with 10ml of 29% h202 and it read 12 on the oxygen meter. no lie!

Even though bleach does work i personaly wouldnt use it knowing that any amount is toxic to plants,no matter how small the amount,peroxide is alot more money but is much safer.
The best thing you could do is to get the rez temp down alot more than 70 degrees,if your chiller cant get temps down to 60 or lower than you need a bigger model.
I keep my 55 gallon rez's between 58 & 60 degrees at all times & dont ever fight slime anymore,get your rez as cold as you can,if you cant afford a bigger chiller than ice works but ya gotta get temps way lower than 74 degrees.

the problem with a water chiller is in ebb n flow systems. the water stays cold in the res but as soon as you flood the rockwool then the water heats up and then theres pathegens in the medium. i kept my res at 65 degrees with a water chiller and still my crop was destroyed from root rot. the other thing that kept happening is the ph would drift up real fast 24 hours a day from the pathegen load and i would have to adjust it every day. ever since i started using h202 my ph stays steady nonstop even with a whole bunch of additives from advanced nutrients. i just think the chiller and airstones come more in handy in a dwc system or aeroponics where the water is constantly flowing

You dont really have to control water temps and can throw away the h202 and hygrozyme btw

H2O2 does not magically improve the amount of DO that can be in water. At 70 degrees the maximum DO that can be in water is 9ppm.

you cant get nearly the maximum amount using airstones. you have no idea what your talkin about. buy a do meter and run some tests like my friend did. i didnt just come up with this out of thin air. its science, h202 breaks down into oxygen. i suggest you do some research
