Sorry this has probably been asked a thousand times over but bare with me i'm new. This is my first attempt at growing marijana. I've looked at a few websites trying to get some advise but I can't really find what i'm looking for. Anyway I've been i've germinated the seeds and am now growing 6 plants since the 5/10/08. 4 in one condition 2 in another just trying to see what method works best. Anyway the 4 plants i am growing are now on average 3 -4 inches long. Is this ok for this amount of time i've been growing them. Also I'm using a single 100 Watt bulb at the mo but am looking to go up to a 200 shortly. I'm also growing in my front room in the open environment at the moment is this a problem? I've got a little tray which i've foiled up and plan to use once i've got the 200 in to produce more light. Would this be ok? So basically what i'm asking is

1. How big should a plant be after 8 days? mine is on average 3 or 4 inches?

2. Is it ok to grow the plant in the open rather than in a closet?

3. Is a 200 Watt bulb strong enough to use for 4 little plants?

Thank you

cfl or incandescent? cfl i hope. the only problem with growing in the open is that the light won't be reflected back to your plant. average plant size should be spoken in terms of nodes, not necessarily height. how many nodes do you have?

Actually the bulb i'm using now is 150 watt but its a incandescent bulb. I've bought a new lamp and i'll be getting a cfl bulb tomorrow on your advice. The plants themselves have 4 nodes each 2 serrated 2 normal. Is this good?

it sounds like its on the smaller side of average. probably due to the incandescent light. definitely get it out of there as soon as possible and it should take off.

Cheers will do. On another note how much light do you reccommend giving it. I've made space in my cupboard but i'm kinda weary of leaving it on all day due to it being a fire hazzard.

get as much light as you can fit without over heating the cab. the general rule of thumb for cfl's is 3 lights per plant. before you buy them make sure you get the right kind: cool/daylight/blue for veg and warm/soft/reddish for flower.

u need atleast 6 x 23 watts coollight(6000K) for veg and if ur lucky to have 2 healthy females, u'll need to change the bulbs with warm light ones (2700K) for the flowering to get some decent buds. Best of luck!

On my first grow, i used 1 125w envirolite warm red all the way through veg and flowering and was fine lights were on 18 through veg 12 through flower, check out my pics of first grow. i was impressed the only thing i found was they started to stretch, but now on my 2nd grow and topping has sorted that problem.

those probably aren't enough. i have 27 watts for vegging and 42 watts for flowering. at least 3 per plant (depending on size).
