Im sure your gonna get a lot of advice but I recommend keeping your fiorst grow cheap and simple... Dont go bu all the exotic crap you see people posting about... I recommend to start with feminized seed, its worth the extra... 4 out of 5 of my standard seed 1st. grow were males, good for nothing. I started out buying 4' T-8 fluorescents and soon realized that CFL's were a better cheap alternative. I wouldnt buy any bulbs less than 32 actual watts and would shoot for around 150-200 actual watts per plant in flower and possibly a little less in Veg. I use cheap potting soil from Lowes, named Sta-Green or something like that and miracle grow for nutes. Walmart sells a cheaper version of the nutes. I use plain tap water to water, maybe 1/2 pint - pint per plant a day. I use 3-4 gallon container, anythiong over 3 gallon os about right. I bought cheap "emergency blankets" for reflective mylar off of ebay to use as a partial tent. Just remember, the larger your grow the more heat you will have and cooling will become mopre important. Just a brief overview of how I see it. My first grow gave me over 1/2 oz. out of the first plant. I may have 2-300 dollars total in my grow area and I can grow 3-4 plants at a time. Just keep it simple and cheap your first grow, you can evolve as you go.
