If you didn't tell someone - Your wife told someone. Whether it was her mom, best friend, cousin, whatever she got someones opinion about it or wanted to get it off of her chest. That shit spreads fast. One person that finds out that either 1. doesn't like you or 2. got busted and said "if I help you can I walk?" is the reason you got a knock on your door.

That sucks big time! did you just get a fine and a week in jail? I live in south africa. back in 1995 I was busted in gr12 for pips. I had a feeling something was not right. so I ate the pips.lol. in the last period the head master came to get me all I had was a empty bank bag! I still got a dk. And the worst of all is I found out that a girl in my class told on. fucking girls. I cant even do anything coz shes a girl.WTF!

I just wish my fellow growers the BEST of luck man. There are many variables I can see now I guess I'll never know. But when they came they came with search warrant in hand, how? I have nooooo idea man. All I know is a North Georgia regular cop came and picked me up and hauled me off after they stormed my house and found nothing but 2 small lil starter plants. I appreciate your posts and hope you guys never face what I had to. Although when the guys in jail found out why I was in there they thought I was cool LOL...I even got a couple connections hahaha

Someone snitched - cops can not obtain a search warrant because they watched you buy growing supplies.
There's no way some local yokels tracked an international package (ostensibly a letter) to his house and obtained a warrant off of that.
Something doesn't add up - OP, you a heavy drinker at all? Because I know I am, and when I get buzzed, I remind myself every two minutes that as cool as it is to brag about my grow, it'll never be worth it.
Either you, your wife, or someone else with access to your house ran your mouth(s).

Im not saying I know anything about how or why OP got busted. But I do know one thing for sure. Yes, cops DO watch hydro shops. And they've been doing it since the 80's.

cops cant get a search warrant based on a single snitch without any corroborating evidence. There obiously had to be some sort of probable cause just to be looked at and usually even more to get the warrant. he was going to get busted either way there was something that gave them the idea that it was pot he was growing. you can go to any local store or buy anything online you want as long as its not illegal and there is no ground for a search warrant. How dumb would police feel to break in on a massive okra and tomatoe indoor op... there has to have been some sort of proof that the grow was related to pot. unless he lives in a town where the local "barney's" dont care about rights and for that fact neither does the judge that signs the warrant. even then you can still have them dropped at a higher court leel if you can prove that the search was unlawful regaurdless of warrant.

Point is, they can follow me to and from the hydro store all day (please don't coppers) - long story short, there's no snitch (because no one else knows that I grow) and no weed trail (because I don't throw away anything to do with my garden), so they can not constitutionally get a search warrant.

this is what scares me half to death. I would rather buy all my supplies from home depo or lowes, but the the ones where I live don't carry shit!!!! I actualy had to order 42 daylight cfls, oh and just forget about soil or nutrients, fox farms ocean what??? the stuff they got in the garden section is like gravel they shoveled up in the parking lot.
It just baffles me when I read ppl all got ther stuff from HD or lowes, like wtf do you live, or is it just me? those specialty garden stores are the last place i wanna visit now, cuz I am paranoid.
