first off i want to say what up to everybody out there. now that that is out of the way, here's the deal. i have a sativa plant(unknown strain) that has been flowering for about 16 wks.now for the first 11 wks i had it under a 400wt hps bulb that i bought from home depot, which i later found out was of very poor quality, and all seemed to be going well. the pistils had turned, my trichs were somewhat cloudy,i thought it was alomst finished. then about five wks ago i bought some "serious hps" hortilux bulbs, all of a sudden it started kicking out new flowers with four to five pistils in them rather than the normal two, just last wkend it has started growing new leaves at the top part of the buds. my trichs are about 80% cloudy 20% somewhat clear. and i also noticed some amber. can anyone tell me what's going on with this damn plant. i'm really ready to cut it down because it seems to be a heavy trich producer, so with 16 wks of flowering it bout looks like its been dipped in sugar, literally, so needless to say it looks like its going to be some proper shit. but if ther is anybody that can help,or give some advice i'd really appreciate it. Thanks to all in advance for your assistance.

PEACE!!!

gottta see a pic...

cut the nugs that are ready, and let the plant re-veg so you can pull some clones..keep that baby going..

yea some sativa strains usually flower longer than indicas (8 weeks) from what i've heard sativas can take a long time to flower but breeders let them go that long just to get seed stock from them you probably should have harvested around the 10th week of flower letting it go longer buds will grow still and trichrome production still increases but then they start to break down when you harvest and dry out you'll notice more of the trichromes turning amber.so i would harvest soon as possible and know for next time average times indoors :leaf:indicas 8-9 weeks(early strains 6-7 weeks):leaf: sativas 9-10 weeks and thats just average you can let them go longer but typiclly you harvest in that time period looking for cloudy trichromes and 60-80% red hairs

that's just it, ALL of the nugs are doing that. its like you look at a nugget right, and the flowers that look done are mixed with the ones that have recently sprouted. so its no way to chop one without the other.

makes sense since the sucker looked ready around the 11TH wk. i had just thought that the plant was responing to the new light that was of better quality. because i will admit the buds have swollen about twice as much in these last 4wks than they did during the entire time(12wks) under the weak home depot bulbs, but i think you might be right as far as cutting it down because 16wks is a long ass time to wait. just one more question though. with me waiting so long, do you think that the potency or strength of the plant has decreased, or am i just worrying for nothing?

There's treachery afoot
I grew some last year that were an indica cross and instead of my typical 56 days of flowering, it took them almost 80. They seemed to stop growing and then when the temps grew a bit warmer, they started to grow (flower) again. The buds were large but oddly shaped. It was pretty obvious that
something was amiss and the only change to my standard proceedure was that it we had a week of below zero actual temps and my space was much cooler at night then normal.

agreed put a pic up.

basically when you switched light you reset the flowering cycle a bit so part of the plant was almost finished at 11 weeks, then had a 6 week spurt of new growth.

cut all the buds with amber trichs NOW.

let the ones that are 80/20 cloudy/clear finish off to 100% cloudy and just a handful of amber trichs, probably another 1-2 weeks, then chop the plant.

i dont know anything about revegging so that's what i'd do.

sorry guys all i have is a camera phone and its not a good for detail shots.
man i wish it was that easy J, or maybe i'm just not thinking hard enough. but you know how some sativa buds grow in like a spiral type pattern? well just imagine this, as the spiral starts and as it makes way to the tip top of the bud, all of those little flowers look mature w/brown hairs, ok. now just imagine about every 1/4 inch a cluster of new sprouts mixed in w/new pistils. that is how "every bud"on the plant looks. kinda like polka dots. you see what i mean, so its not a thing of just being able to take certian buds that are completely ready, because they are all like that from the top of the tree to the last node. so i guess I'll just wait till this evening and just cut her down. mainly because i don't want to have to wait an other four to five wks for the new sprouts to make some trichs, and then have to wait till those turn cloudy. all the while, the flowers that are mature will be degrading right, as far as potency. i guess i really don't have too much of a choice.it usually only takes about three to four days for stuff to dry in my house so if you had any tips, advice, or helpful hints for me today, i will PM you and let you know how it came out. got my fingers crossed.

your potency will still be relativly the same you'll just have more CBN which is what THC breaks down into (CBN is also what is belived to give cannabis its pain releving properties) so you'll be doing just fine but sativa strains like i said before go 8-18 weeks like mekong haze (18 weeks to flower) from delta-9 labs which is a pure landrace you can check it out here... http://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/sold-out-delta-9-labs-mekong-haze-2641-p.asp

you could hack her down i caught a glimpse of the word revegging if you were looking to do this.....Rejuvenating harvested plants by harvesting all the buds and leaving several underdevoloped lower branches with foliage on the plant. Give her a 18/6 - 20/4 day/night photoperiod. she'll stop flowering and start to rejuvenate and revert back to veg growth.give the leafy harvested, buddy stubs an increased dose in nitrogen rich ferts to promote good leaf growth. this will get her growing leaves as it reverts(it may take some time for her to start growing leaves and revert back 4-6 weeks) itll start shooting 1-3 fingered leaves just like it was a seedling agian then more and more fingers will show up as it progresses. let her grow till your desired size agian i would keep her shorter than the first harvest due to shell be root bound by now...and the most light you can provide the better, your buds wont be as large as the first go but still good. that or if you looking to just keep the genetics you could veg it then clone her as much as ossible but the clones will still have the lack in yeild due to already being harvested

THAT IS WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY,TAKE WHAT SHE HAS FOR YOU NOW, KEEP HER HEALTHY,SHE WILL GIVE YOU MORE !:leaf:
Yea re-veg that bad girl! She sounds like a keeper!

...then with the clones you can try different flowering times and let us know which makes the best smoke. I think you could have cut it down a while ago. sometimes my haze plants will go in to some late stage weird growth in late late flowering. I think it makes the smoke worse, but I am not sure.
