I can promise you its pH. I grew in an AG for the first time its in my sig. Straight tap water is bad news, you need to go get some pH down from petsmart and use that to balance your water. Also get a ph meter of some sort, digital ones are ideal but if you cant get the test strips there cheap and easy to find. You need to make every thing consistent. Simple tip. If you want to balance levels try this. Your Ag holds about a gallon of water Get two gallons of water from the tap and let it sit over night. Then get your pH down and balance out to around 6.0-6.2. Depending on the PPMs and nature of your tap will determine the amout of pH down you need. I am lucky, My tap comes out at 7.0 and thats with i digital meter calibrated. Once you do let it sit to make sure the pH sticks. Once you are done pour one gallon into the AG and set the other back. Feed the AG only with this extra gallon. Monitor the pH before you add water to insure proper pH, because you never add pH up or down directly to that tiny res.
