Police called next door. Could use some advice.

Hi guys

I could use some advice please. The police called next door and searched his place looking for weed plants. They said that some had reported that there was a smell of cannabis cultivation. They didnt find anything because he isnt growing and then went to look round the corner and yet they didnt knock on my door (so far as I know I was sound asleep at this point). Should I be worried?

I have 2 plants in the cupboard in my bedroom, the door is kept closed and I've been burning incense. Although I wasnt doing a week or two ago and I was smoking at the window. At that point it probably did smell a fair bit. I dont want to crop and make the place stink of weed and then get busted because of it but I dont want to wait and then get busted anyway.

I am about 2 or 3 weeks away from cropping and was trying to grow some weed for Christmas. It is going to stink the place out when I do crop is there anyway I can reduce the smell without using a tent or modifying the closet?

And now I want a joint and I havent got any. Just say the word and the plant gets it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

a proper carbon filter attached to an adequate fan assembly, running constantly, will eliminate the odor from your home. Put it in the room with the plants, or in line with your exhaust leading outside. Plants get pretty smelly, and if you are not legally growing with a medical card or live in colorado where it is legal for anyone to grow up to 6 plants, as i understand it, then you should definitely be using odor control methods.

Smart man follow this guys advice... I have my medical card and am cultivating and smell is a problem for me but im in the process of buying a carbon filter i already have a 6 inch 432 cfm fan so the smell gets expelled out of the room about every minute so its not so bad i would def suggest doing this that way you can actually get to harvest. I would be really sad if you didnt get to harvest all the time and work you put into them precautions are always worth the money...

You could also buy a HEPA filter and stick it in there.

You should finish this grow and hold off till you get a carbon filter or i think its called ona gel or somthing but thats just me gl with ur plants

Clearly, you have a neighbor in close proximity who is inclined to rat out a fellow neighbor at the first whiff of weed. So yes, you should be worried about creating Cannabis smells. If you are gonna grow in this location, you have no choice but to invest in some odor eliminating technology like a carbon filter. Most importantly, if the police DO knock on your door, do not open it. You aren't required to and you are a moron if you do. with an open door, all they have to do is claim that they smell marijuana and then barge on in. I should have said that I'm from the UK in my original post, sorry. I'm not sure on how different the law is around here. I think generally they knock first and force entry when they cant get in but either way they would need a search warrant. Not opening the door is good advice and if they want to come in here they'll have to get a warrant first.

All I need now is a big sack of cash. I was planning to make this my last grow because of the smell but it seems I'll have to shell out money anyway. Well I suppose I shouldnt have been putting it off and should have upgraded my grow room instead of my computer. :roll:

i found an article where a build used a 5 gallon bucket and poured some pinesol into the bucket filled half way with water and a airstone to bubble the water and a fan attach to the top of the bucket to spread the scent. work wonderful.

If you want your house to reek of pinesol 24/7, yes. Personally, I would get a splitting headache after that was going for an hour or two. Maybe if you have no other options and don't mind your house smelling like a janitor's closet.

Nah this place doesnt smell like a janitors closet but it reeks of incense. Its the smell of paranoia though not without reason. I cant help the feeling that I'm going to get busted tomorrow and I'll have spent money on controlling the smell for nothing. Damn annoying.

Planning. Thats an interesting concept. Unfortunately I didnt really plan any of this. The plants are growing in a cupboard with slatted doors using a 150w CFL and I've been growing them in there for over a year from the same strain. Its a wonder they havent hermied. lol. I will be starting again after this grow (if I dont get busted at anyrate) and I'll planning it properly. The stress isnt worth it.

So my solution not that its perfect is to wait a few days and then buy what I need or rather what I can afford. If I get busted in the mean time so be it. Shit happens, most things I have done in my life have been a very "figure it out as you go" kind of experience. That was mostly directed at that pinesol suggestion. On the plus side, apparently the smell isn't terribly traceable, seeing as they busted your neighbor.

On an unrelated note. Nice screen-name. The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy were my favorite books as a kid.

I very definitely side with the folks saying carbon. Masking/cover odors like pine or Ona aren't nearly as effective, and the odor itself will raise eyebrows ime. Good odor control ( = removal)aids peace of mind tremendously. cn

Well the carbon filter has been ordered. :smile: Its not the best but it'll have to do for now and then I will see what setup I can jerry rig when it gets here. I will be planning this better for the next grow. Incense will have to do for now until the filter arrives. Cant put a price on piece of mind and it would be nice to not worry about it.

I have a theory as to why they busted my neighboor and who complained but its just that. It seems to much of a coincidence that they called there. Someone downstairs has been kicking off about the smell before and accused him of growing. For some reason he seems to attract trouble. Or it maybe a coincidence and someone else called the police.

I love the smell of pinesol in the morning, it smells like....disinfectant.

Damn all overly concerned Dudley Do-Right citizens. Anyone who would call the fucking cops when they smell smoke should be drug out into the street and shot.
I wouldn't be worried about the weed, I would be concerned about a neighborhood of uptight cock smokers who will snitch on you at the drop of a hat. Fuck 'em!
