IDK about you but with the new "smart meters", my power company regularly sends me letters with a graph showing my power usage by time of day & comparing it to all my neighbors power usage..

That's kind of scary. I don't have a smart meter yet, but reckon it to be inevitable less i get off the grid first. I should have lived about 300 years ago. fts

Same. Tripped me out at first but IMO as long as the electric co gets the payment on time they usually are happy.

Doesn't mean they don't. You think the cops are going to buy toys and not play with them?
Would be a complete waste of there time, its no grounds for a warrant same with power thing for all they no you have a bunch of fish with light timer's in your crib or ya breeds snakes or some shit. If they are out doing that to your home your already done. just my .2

yeah i think your write, being a bit paranoid, they have been going upto like 89 which is pissing me off and im doing all i can to reduce it so thanks again.
Keeping the temps down is doable, it just takes some money in materials. Using air cooled hoods will help out A LOT, they cool down the bulbs which is your direct source of heat. Aside from that try ramping up your exhaust system, I have mine on a variable controller with the capacity to move the air through my room 2x a minute. I rarely turn it up past halfway, but a couple of times during a heat wave I really cranked it up. And don't underestimate the benefits of more regular old fans. Pack that room out with enough oscillating fans, it'll cool down.

Try not to be paranoid or complacent, they both lead to poor decisions.

This topic started out about cops, I think it's about fans...

yeah i dont use aircooled hps bulbs, maybe i should invest!! also i use fans and cool air sources where i can, its the bulbs that get really hot and i have a powerful exhaust fan but that doesnt seem to matter, obviously it all helps in bringing the temps down, do you have a good link for an aircooled hood you could show me? a big question for me is when i exhaust the hot air at speed through a chimney breast, what will that look like to an infrared camera? will it really look like a hot fountain?

Yeah man, it'll look like the heat is on. On almost all houses converted to furnace run the vents up the old chimney. A chiminey is exactly where you'd expect to see hot air, which is all those cameras can see. Your worrying over nothing. It's not like you've packed out a warehouse, and some people do that.

These are the hoods I use, they're sick as fuck. The hydro store down the street from me sells them for $85 cheaper to walk out the door with.

Killer farm dude! Its way worse they can see it on google earth https://www.rollitup.org/t/growing-under-google-earth.842570/ @ste147 I dont tend to worry about helicopters unless they're under 500 feet. I bet you can rent a flir cam at the hardware store. Its for checking cold air leaks inside your house. just go outside and take a peek if your that worried. exhausting through the chimney is a good idea or exhausting under the house so the heat rises all over the house is also good. I hear in the usa they need a warrant for it . Make sure you pay the electric bill, they dont care how much power your using as long as you pay them. Things that will get you busted are stealing power, loose lips, snitches, exgirlfriends. I have the green card and follow the rules so I dont worry about it.

The objective would be to identify potential growers, not to use it to prosecute. Once they identify potential growers they then search look for something to get a warrant. Now, do you want them watching you and asking questions?

True. Does the flir thingy work in the daytime?
It works, but it is a lot more difficult to interpret it. Example: Your roof is solid black on the image during the daytime due to the sun heating it. Add the hot exhaust from your grow room and they can't tell the difference.

Feasible..sure...But its still an invasion of privacy and by there own laws illegal to look into your home if they ever got caught doing it the lawsuit would be more expensive then the flir technology only being used to locate people running from the cop's hell they use it to identify speeder's on the interstate's and call in ahead of time.

Honestly, if you have a couple plants under one light the cops don't even give a Shit about you. Sure, they'll bust you if you give them a reason, but there are much bigger fish to fry. If you're that paranoid keep your operation small. Getting greedy in a non legal state will get you busted.
