Pollen Harvesting Questions

I stuck a couple males outdoors to flower so i can collect pollen and my questions are: When is the best time to harvest pollen? I have seen pics of balls that are open but should i wait until there are are a lot of them open? How long after they have opened does pollen remain in the flower? I dont need a lot of pollen so can i just wait until a few sacs are open, tap or shake them over a white piece of paper, collect it and store it. Or should the plant be very mature? Also i want to make hash out of the males so i'm afraid if i wait too long there will be less material to make hash out of, with regards to the leaves yellowing and dying off. Any tips would be helpful. Thanks

you should pollenate your female once the female is close to harvest..cuz once a femaale get pollenated ...the buds stop producing and start producing only seeds..so whatever bud u have then is when u will get in the end..:blsmoke:

I had two plants I was growing outside. I waited too long to pull the male & my female got polinated. Seeds are forming. With a microscope I can see trics on the leaves --some seem to be clear & some cloudy. Its starting to get in the low 30's here at night. Is the plant worth trying to use?
I'll post pics tomorrow.

Thanks, O2

it will grow a cola of male flowers, once that starts to open and release pollen the plant will die soon. you'll know when it's near the end because the lower flowers will be dying and falling off.

there really isn't a bad time to collect pollen, at least not that i know of, just depends on how much you want to get.

If i only pollinate one small branch will the entire plant stop producing buds or will it just be the branch that i pollinated?

where do you people come up with this stuff? unbelievable.

collect pollen as it ripens. each pod opens at a different time. get them just before they burst. once the bananas hang the pollen starts to fall out. once the flower is open then most of the pollen has already been dropped.

pollinated buds continue to produce resins. maybe even more. they still have a seed to protect. resin is part of this protection. they continue to grow just as they would un-pollinated. i have to mark my branches so i can tell which ones have been pollinated. why would this be if they stopped producing buds? the crap people spread....
