Popcorn weed...Need help...

Ok, so my weed smells like unsalted un-buttered somewhat stale popcorn...
I harvested, and then dried hung up in a cardboard box...Shit dried in 2 days, not kidding.
I've had it in jars for a week, burping for 10 min a day, and my fucking buds smell like popcorn/dry hay...
Should I use an orange peal, maybe they over dried, they don't crumble or anything when you break it up, and I've smoked some too...
Thanks for looking, and I'll check back and add rep...

Edit Note:
A added some pics of my bud...I am trying to dry it a little more, smells somewhat better.
The buds are getting a crispy feeling, but stems dont snap...
I could use some help people...

it seems like they were in too dry an environment, all the chlorophyll got trapped in the herb. if they dont break up properly the chances are they aren't actually fully dry. try letting them dry out slower next time, they need atleast 5 days min before curing. the lemon peel does work but your weed is not over dry by the sounds of things so i doubt this will help much. let it dry some more then do it if you really want.

good luck,

most common advice you will hear is check your stem. is it snapping? does it give a little before the snap?

take one of the denser nugs and spread it open a little bit. If it is as dry inside as it is outside, and the stems are snapping, it MAY be too late, but may not. the orange peel will help with adding moisture to improve the flavor/burn/texture but as far as i understood it wont reboot the 'cure' process.

what you will want to do is jar them up. this will lock them in with their own moisture, if any is left. check it after about 12 hours and see if they have moistened at all. if not, relid, check in another 12. do this for a couple days, and if no moisture reveals itself, you may be stuck with it. but, with any luck you will notice them soften a bit. if so, keep up the jar burping for a few days, then slow to only burping once a day, and then tapering down to not at all (you have to pay attention its moisture to know when to slow). Heres A Thread i use that goes into FAR more detail than i want to get into right now, but trust me its worth the read.

As for drying in 2 days, i would look into that if i were you, its just not long enough, 4 is scraping by, most will aim for 7, some swear by 10-14 (i find this far too long). make sure your drying area is roughly 50% humidity, and somewhere around 70-75f, in the dark. If able, hang by full branches, even full plant (this slows the drying process even farther).

Ill stop babbling now (a bit high). i hope some of this rambling helped a bit. with any luck, your stuff will pull through, get a good cure, and start smelling like the chronic we all know and love =D
best of luck -kk

sucks man u dried way to fast.. true story this chick im growin with grew some decent bud b4 she knew me but tasted and looked like strait ass.. so anyways one day were hangn out havn a good time and she pulled out 2 joints his and hers (she lived in Europe for many years) so i light this thing up and take a few draggs.. not a bad head change but tasted like shit.. i thought i was smoking weed laced with tobacco.. and well shes also canadian so i didnt think much of cause i know a few other canadians that also smoke spliffs (cigaweed).. but after a few more draggs i just couldnt take the taste anymore since im not a tabacco smoker.. so i made a comment to her about it.. the look priceless

we still get along great but i still refuse to smoke that boo boo of hers

the moral of this story.... Dont fuck up when curring!! hang your buds in a cool dark place and let dry slow

how long flowering and what colour trichomes? they look a little immature imo, could be the strain maybe. if you really dont wanna smoke it as it is, bubble hash would be the way to go. the sets of bags to make it cost a couple of hundred bucks though, i'm gonna get some but i'm only gonna use trimmings for making hash.

yes bubble bags work great and yes most people make it with just there trimmings, but i use all my small buds as well and the hash is incredible..

my buds always dry in 3 days then i put them into jars.
i would love to dry for longer but they just dry up so quick. even with a fan rotating air around and the right temps.
well weird. but my cure still seems to come out fine.

I think the hay/popcorn smell is a result of early harvest, not fast drying, and curing...as for hash there's a lot of different ways to make it. Do you have bubble bags? If not you can use a coffee grinder. Or make oil. Both are very cheap ways to get what you want.

thats what i believe aswell. if you look at the buds you can see all the white hairs still on there.

if you think about it. when you put the buds in a glass jar like normal to cure within 2-3 days of drying it, cures the same as if the bud dryed in a week.
i think this is because no matter what there is still moisture in the bud, 7 days or 3 days drying. so the chloryphil escapes either way when you burp the jars.
the reason you might get a hay smell even when you cure maybe to, early harvest or quick drying your buds with a fan blowing directly over them or something of the same nature to quick dry.

if you just let them hang and dry in there own time, 3 days or 7 days the cure will be just as good. as long as the moisture is still in there and you havent forced it to dry.

thats what i beleive anyway. ive dryed in 3 days and 7 days. the cure has been just as good.

peace bro

I harvested with all cloudy and some amber, so it can't be early harvest...I think I'm just gona make ice hash, cause I don't have bubble bags, and don't wana spend 50 bucks on em...

Fluffy, airy bud has a tenancy to lose its smell because it drys too fast (this is assuming that it DID have a good smell while alive) My advice is: on the next round, sort out why you are getting fluffy buds. Usual culprits: Low lighting, high heat, shading, or any combination of them. Good luck buddy, I have had PLENTY of crops like that, but they got better and better each time :)

It has nothing to do with drying it fast, I dry bud in 24 hrs and then cure it by adding distilled water back in slowly and curing it in jars. I do this because I like the weed smell and taste and the quick dry (before I cure it) gets used in my Vape. The cured in jars is used for smoking (obviously because its less harsh) however the smell is less and will change slightly. FYI I've cured every way imaginable and this way imo gives the best results for me. The quickly dried weed smells MUCH more like the original plant (weed smell) and is by far my favorte for vaping. The more cured bud is obviously smoother but does not have that "you can smell weed from 30ft away" smell like the quick dry gives.

I will agree that fluffy bud loses its smell faster but the reason is that a) there is less weed to retain the smell to begin with and b) there is more surface area exposed to the air.

Although I am not a fan, you could alway water cure it and that would take the smell away. Although if I were in your shoes I would probably make hash like you plan too. But in case you wanted to smoke it you could water cure.
