Hello everyone,

Im growing in 2 rubbermaid containers holding 5 plants each with 2 14" airstones at the bottom. both REZ's are connected to a 5 gallon bucket that holds my pump. the 5 gallon bucket sits outside of the grow room.

Questions

1. When i check the PH & PPM of my grow, can i just check the control bucket? Or should i check the 2 REZ's themselves.

2. If i have a jug of water at 500 PPM and i add it to a res with water at 500 PPM, is it still going to be 500 PPM or do they get added together to 1000 PPM?

3. When mixing my nutes, do i just add them to the water in the rez? or should i mix them in a jug then fill the rez?

4. You PH the water after adding the nutes correct?

Thanks

Thank you both. That earl guy got all technical, but i found a lot of helpful stuff in there.

And as for my first question let me rephrase it.

Can i get an accurate PPM and PH reading from the control bucket? Since the 2 Rez's and the control bucket are all hooked up together using the same water the PPM and PH should be the same through out. TRUE or FALSE

false the ppm ph and temp can vary for ex the ppm in the rez can be 500 while the grow mediums ppm could be 400

the best way to check PPM and pH is often and testing the water that is hitting the roots (or the water the roots are in) since that is the only reading that counts.

what the Earl link is telling you is to use very little nutrients - much less than most feeding schedules dictate (especially if you are using tap water) and your pH will fluctuate - sometimes wildly at first. Keep the link handy, as you gain more experience you will consult the link more often.
