Possible Ph problem.. end of Leaves turning brown and some leaves are turning yellow

very sorry it took so long to respond... I have been just feeding with distilled water. Fox Farm Ocean Forest Soil, 30 percent perlite.. and yes i mixed light on top. I noticed a lot of other growers doing it so i did it. I can mix it better if you think that will help. I dont check my Ph of my water ever because I just feed distilled water. I have not used any Nutrients since like the 1st week of seedling growth, ( you may ask why the hell i would do this.. i was stoned and not thinking, pretty much just like, maybe if i add a little Buddha grow to a gallon of water it will grow faster kind of thought process i guess). The Ph of the soil is whatever Fox Farm is and the waters PH i assume is around 6.0 if it is distilled water. Let me know guys or girls.. Thanks in advance for the help....

further specs

4x4 growlab tent
400/600 next gen ballast
Phresh Carbon Filter
435 CFPM 6 in fan

pretty much it.. run 400 mh for veg, 600 hps for flower.... this is my 1st grow.. plan on cloning and sexing these 4, then keeping the strongest mothers that are of course female.

i bought some 35 dollar ph meter. then i get home and it says i need to buy a fuckin ph buffer solution so i can calibrate it to 7.0 before i can use it. then i have to leave it in water at all time or it will break.. So now i have to wait 3-4 more days till i can go back to the hydro store to get that buffer solution.. Will it read the PH without calibrating it?

They are starved and need fert. They will be fine just hold off on using meter until calibration. Ph may be low for soil 6.0 is a little low imo.

You should at least be mixing up blackstrap mollases with the distilled water, or get some nutes!

Hi mate,

This sounds like ph problems to me. All i know is that most nute deficiencies I have encountered have been a result of my ph being off. I notice a few burnt spots on lower leaves often if my ph is off, this usually comes before widespread yellowing from say - nitogen lockout. Also bear in mind that my own tapwater is like ph8 or sumin (very alkaline) so if i dont alter ph i get problems within a month. If you water only with ph'd water you should see a quick return to health, that is if ph is indeed the problem.

Dude, no offense you really need to relax and research a little more, IMO. Good job on getting a PH meter but for $35 I hope you don't plan on using it for more than one grow. Yes, you should get calibration solution, I calibrate my pens (PH and PPM) every week when I change my reservoirs and I have found even $100 pens drift so I would definitely keep checking yours. I def wouldn't use that PH pen until its calibrated, just my two cents.

Thanks to all of your reply's. I will grab some PH buffers solution.. I really wish the salesman would have told me I needed to buy it. Seeing how i walked in the store wanting a cheap PH up and down kit and a cheap PH meter. But he talked me into the expensive PH meter and I forgot to get PH up and down and didn't even know i needed the buffer solution. Back to the hydro store I go. I will continue to post pics to show you all that hopefully I can fix this problem. I bought nutes a while ago, just have no started using them.. i got Aurora Innovations Roots Organic Buddha Grow, Buddha Bloom, and HPK ... The guy told me its all i will need and they are his favorite organic nutes out there right now.

I agree, the salesman should have told you about the calibration solution. Find a better salesman.
