that was awesome paka.. i was wondering if rodney mullen was going to be in that video, and of course he was the last one to go out there and rip shit up.. he was simply amazing back in the day..
my one friend used to even have an old freestyle deck like those ones.. super skinny and short, and he was actually pretty good at some freestyle moves... i think freestyle got lost once street skating got so big though, although i still love a lot of those flip moves that mullen was pulling off for sure.. good find..

My favorite move Rodney every did was the Darkslide.

Yeah back in the day it was Rodney and Pierre Andre #1 and #2 always fighting for the title in the end.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuMmT3E-KVU Rodney was responsible for getting me into skating.. even to this day after about 7 years of skating my favorite thing to do is just fuck about and trick and try some tech/old school shit
i have this baseball park down the street from where i grew up at, and we were all maybe like 13 or 14 and one day we went down there and there was this older guy with a freestyle board doing all kinds of killer simple 360's forever and ever, and some other simple old old skool freestyle moves, and we simply thought he was the coolest thing since sliced bread.. he ended up being a huge influence in my life for sure, and he helped us build several half pipes and launch ramps and took me to my first hardcore shows.. really good dude..

I've seen kerry getz hit that love gap a couple times making it look so easy.City hall(which is shown in the video racer posted)is also a great spot but the cops always fuck with them there.William Penn with the huge steps is good to.Philly is a great city for skateboarding.

lol thinking about it now I spent a lot on skateboards.I would get a new board like every 3 days cause it was either worn out or snapped.I liked bakers to,I remember having a couple of them to.My bones black bearings or even the reds are great and will last you a very long time.

man, i'm even older skool, lol, i used to have when i was a kid, these tracker ultra light trucks where the baseplates were plastic, but after snapping a few of them, i pretty much always used indipendents.. and some kind of bones bearings too.. i think when i stopped skating there was birdhouse was pretty new, used to have a lot of new deal decks..

I was skating before Tracker and Gullwing came out with those light plastic trucks. They were great for parks, but got tore up quick on the street. I never owned a pair, but my friend did. It's pretty much been indy's for me, but LOVE Grind KIngs. I was always breaking king-pins, until Grind King came around.

do you ever remember zrollers? i think that's what they were called, they had a roller part like on the truck where the axle is.. they were kinda lame and heavy, but my one old friend could grind anything with those things... i never really liked them..

i just picked up a snowboard today at some yard sale for $5.. it's a burton and has burton bindings on it... i've only tried to snowboard like one time and sucked at it.. for some reason i hate having my feet strapped to the board constantly.. i'm sure if i do it some more i would get more used to it.. i'm going to try some now this winter.. it's probably a pos, but for the money, i couldn't pass it up..

here's some old skool lil stevie williams, some of from 93, that's probably my hey day of the philly scene too, pretty sweet... the other dudes name i was trying to think of earlier was rick oyola or some shit like that. he was from jersey, and about my age and lil stevie was a lil younger than us ... they both ripped it up, although the rick dude was a bit arrogant..

oh snap, literally, lol.. that sucks though for sure.. i had thought i'd broken an ankle one time skating, and when i went to the er the dr took one look at it and said... you broke it buddy before even x-raying it, but after he x-rayed it, just turned out to be a bad sprain, but that shit hurt for reals, lol..
other than that, i was pretty lucky in my x games career, lol...
now, i hope nobody is going to get offended by this, lol, but i always got the feeling that rodney mullen was a lil light in his loafers, not that care if he was gay or not, just the feeling i always got from him.. maybe it was just because of how fluid and artistic i had thought he was..
i'm pretty sure he was from florida, not sure where he lives now though..
