...But resin doesn't flow from the roots??? ... Xylem and Phloem flow from the roots... Not resin...
P.S - Hey I'm not saying it definitely doesn't work, I'm just saying it's illogical, I haven't tried it myself, as a botanist I don't see how it could possibly work, however, there are a lot of myths out there that may possibly work, I'll list some if you want to give them a try!
1 - 48 Hour dark period before harvest (this may actually increase potency, the logic is there)
2 - Pushing thumb tacks into the plants stem to form a cross (+) in the plants stem ... Also called crucifying ... This is done about a week before harvest I believe.
3 - Boiling the roots...
4 - Turning the plant upside down while it's still in its growing medium so all the THC 'falls' into the buds (now this is part of a curing process that I believe someone got confused with along the way and started some hype about)
...They get worse... lol

I was just reading the Horticulture of Marijuana Bible and it said boiling roots doesn't do anything. He even went so far as to say it's foolish and to never do it. Book is also written by Jorge Cerventes.

Of course it's a myth, it's botanically illogical ... There are hundreds of myths like that, if they all worked, people would have some very, very potent pot these days ... Unfortunately 99% of those myths do not work!
I don't think boiling the roots when you harvest (or when ever it is) would do a lot of harm, but it's not going to do anything magical either.

hahaha oh man random, but I just ate .8 of a firecracker and I am RIPPED. Some BOMB blueberry headies, this is my first time doin a firecracker and it's only an 1.5 hours into it! This is great to do when you're low on bud and got some kief lying around.
