i've used grapefruit,lime and banana extracts..you can buy from the store...to flavor the bud... there regular extracts you use for cooking and such...it actually makes a difference...my room smells like banana bud 
gotta be careful how much you use though...it can burn your plant horribly!

i harvested my last plant...i used banana extracts on...came out fine...extracts have sugars..which the plant uses for food... i go 2 tblsp to a gallon... pending how strong you want it.... my homeboys have used peppermint extract before and the smoke came out incredible!
