no

you need 1 gallon for every month of growing. so you need like a 5 gallon for final pot

alright

cheers

Yeah
You do not want to go to big to fast though.
It will slow you growth since the roots will be growing more which will slow plant growth.
Cali High is right though. 1 gal per month.

sounds good, you might want to get some superthrive, it will help the roots become established and create a good support structure for your buds :)

I heard somewhere one gallon per foot (heigth of plant)...is the one gallon per month a better indicator?

I have always gone by 1 gallon per foot. Just transplanted straight from 1 to 5 gallon pots saves a lot a hassle.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
I start mine in 5 gallon buckets from day 1 and never have to worry about the hassle or shock of transplants.Grab 5 gallon buckets at home depot or lowes for about 3 bucks each

Hiya Skintight

You're going about things the right way - starting in small pots and potting up in stages as the rootball develops but you'll need one more stage before you can put it into flowering.

Ignore the 1 gal per month and per foot of growth, they're just simple rules of thumb and irrelevant to what you're doing, particularly as you won't be repotting in flowering or growing a plant any taller than about 3 foot.

Let the plant root out it's current 7 in pot, so leave it about another week and then pot up to a 2-3 gallon container which would be approximately 10-12 inches in diameter and about 12 inches high. Let it root out this pot for about 1-2 weeks and then put it into flowering.

What you want ideally is for the root mass to root out the 2-3 gal pot but not completely, so there's still a little more room for root growth when the plant enters flowering as for the first 2-3 weeks of flowering root growth continues but it slows down after that point and starts putting its energy into flower and bud formation.

So what you're shooting for is as a big a root mass as you can get in the final pot, the bigger the root mass the higher the levels of nutrients the plant can uptake and theoretically this will also allow the plant to produce the biggest yield possible.

Good luck with your repotting and grow.

Hey northern does superthrive actually work, I picked it up at store and read label, sounded a bit to good to me, so I didnt buy it. Do you use it, and if so how do you like it?

I have done the 5 gal start to finish. On the next grow I'll transplant watching the root system. Then I'll have good exp.

Thanks Growers .

Hiya Skintight

Glad the post helped you.

Your space is a bit tight, it's just a little bit smaller than mine which is 30" x 18" and I'd struggle to get 4 full sized plants in there. Seek out some square pots if you can, they're a lot more economic space wise than round ones. I use the 6L Wilma square pots which are about 9in high by about 10in tall, they're only about 1 1/2 gallons but they're fine for Indica plants no taller than 3 foot.

I use Superthrive - I think it's very good. I use it whenever I transplant and add a drop or so to about 4L of water to help ease transplant shock, I also use it when I transplant clones.

You use very little of it so a small bottle goes a long way.
