hey. i was wondering if it is better to get a 3 gal or 5 gal pot for a 3-4 ft plant? i was planning on the 5 but i didn't know if it was possible to have too big a pot. hope this doesn't sound too stupid :peace:

No such thing as "too big" of a pot to plant in. Except for watering and space issues. I think you'll be ok in the 3gal unless you feel that the plant is too crowded (root growth) in the 3. What does the plant think? Mine tell me how they're feeling, and since being transplanted they feel GORGEOUS. :D

well i was going to get the 5 but just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't do any harm to put them in a big container. why does the plant have to be transported at all then? why can't it just be placed in a huge pot from the get go?

it can, but usually people start their small plants in small pots in hidden spots where u can fit alot, then either transplant the good ones to big pots somewhere else or transplant them outdoors

so its more for space than anything? will it deplete the soil quicker or something? haha i sound like such a noob

Bigger pots equal larger root mass obviously but unless you inmtend to veg the holy shit out of it then a smaller pot is the ticket.

With smaller pots come more frequent watering, with waterings come oxygen,im having much better luck this go round using smaller pots & watering daily.

3 gallons is good for indoor. But ya have to fill the pot up with soil. I have seen so many pots that are half full of soil.
