Should I be concerned with potato bugs in my smart pots?

i wouldn;t be worried unles you have some large meaty stems.... they will mistake great big woody stems on your pot plants for trees, i;ve had it a couple times where ants/pil bugs eat my stems..... if they do start there are many harmless sprasys u can get.

I'm more concerned with the health of the roots than the actual above ground portion of the plant.

i wouldnt be concerned if thats your main worry.
