Hey i have a question about how to make the buds a little denser and alot more potent last grow the buds were ok in density but could have been alittle bigger / denser and was not very strong at all but was taken down at mostly cloudy it was KC Mango... with a 400 w hyponex soil and pure blend pro soil veg / bloom food.... lights 8'' from top.. all other aspects of it was pretty healthy... was it the strain??? are there some specific strains that will give me more denser / potent buds? was it not enough food? fed once each watering after bout 2 3 weeks old.... something i didnt do to make it more potent?? ... anyway post your advice and check for my replys thanks

Let it go as long as you can stand, get a 30x loupe and look for the trichs to get nice and amber, that should put you on your ass. I flowered my last sativas for 101 days!! It will help density too, you can add supplements, but just straight growing the best thing to do is wait until all (basically) the hairs have receded into the calyxes and the calyxes have swelled to look like they have seeds in them, not all strains do exactly this, but you will see the idea on most plants. Good luck and happy growing.

No when they go brown they are really really sleepy high, the darker they are the closer to sleep it will put you. Like i said i flowered sativas for 101 days, thats 14 1/2 weeks. You would really have to let the whole plant go completely brown and dead looking before you ruin the smoke completely.

Letting the trichomes get all amber would not only create a sleepier high but a much less pleasurable one as well.

Always measure light distance from the bulb, not the lamp. 8" away from the bulb is just a little too close for a 400w. It could be the absolute closest you can get the plants but they need at least two inches for room to grow.

Unless your plants finished with obvious & serious deficiencies, it sounds like you probably got pretty close to their full potential. I highly recommend not expecting anything more from your existing strain. If you want better buds, you'll need to find a better strain to grow.

Assuming you grew some healthy plants and your end product was still not potent nor dense, then that was probably a function of your strain. BUT, i'm willing to bet your plants weren't as healthy as you think they were and you're the reason they lacked density and potency. You shouldn't be feeding everytime you water. That can create salt buildups and lock out nutirents which are vital to growth and development.

It also could have been your soil: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/lab/msg1003535616441.html

From the thread and link: http://www.coopext.colostate.edu/4dmg/Plants/pottmix.htm

Second, Hyponex All Purpose Potting Soil and Green Charm resulted in poor plant growth. Both of these media contain sedge peat, a fine particle material that tests to a low porosity. There simply isn't enough space within these media for the water and air that plant roots need to grow successfully
