Ronnie Lee Smith: "The laws against marijuana violate the U.S. and Kentucky constitutions on numerous levels"

Ronnie Lee Smith wants to be sheriff of Gallatin County, Kentucky. Which is not that unusual, until you realize that Smith is better known as pot comedian and social media personality Roland A. Duby.

"All activist potheads should run for sheriff like I am," Smith said Friday.

"I remember having my marijuana taken and thrown in the creek by a friendly policeman who shall remain nameless," Smith said. "I wasn't arrested and turned into a criminal for it."

According to Smith, the laws against marijuana violate the constitutions of the United States and of Kentucky "on numerous levels."

"These laws have no business being enforced," Smith said. "If I am elected sheriff of Gallatin County, I will protect the farmers' rights to grow as much marijuana as they want!"

According to Smith -- a libertarian who pledges to stop all bank foreclosures in the county -- if he is elected the Sheriff's Department will accept marijuana as payment of property taxes.

"The value wil be set after I am elected, but the way I see it, we should have marijuana available to the general public," Smith said. "The Commonwealth of Kentucky already sells marijuana tax stamps. And there is nothing stopping Gallatin County from issuing their own tax stamps!"

"People will come from around the country to sample Gallatin County's finest marijuana tops," Smith said.

Wooooooot!!!! bongsmilie

This made me laugh!
bout the only way you can react to his platform/location...... me and you have talked over bowls of doing this very thing, only not as THE sheriff....
knowing about where this guy comes from, I can see why he is taking such a "dramatic and ridiculous" approach.... kentucky is a large producer, why deny it anymore???

I think if more people (targetedaly smokers) would be willing to make dramatic stands like this in their profession/place in community, then nation (and thus worldwide) reform of cannabis legislation would be unavoidable.......

medical states are only "medical" because those people were willing to stand up for themselves.... they got themselves fixed, so now aren't advocating anymore.... IE, nobody medical gives two shits about the non-medical rest of the country.... we gotta stand up for ourselves. ;)

I love Kentucky, had a grow buddy from kentucky. He told me all kinds of wonderful things. Like they teach Hydroponics in Agriculture Class in the high schools. How badass is that? He also told me about how much was produced in that state. After moonshine lost popularity cannabis became the method to make cash in the hills. He was obviously a hydro grower. He knew his shit too! He moved back there because he couldn't find any specialty nutrients here. A few weeks after he moved, they opened a brand new hydro store that has everything one would need. Ain't that a bitch?

This is a conversation I had with the hopeful for Sherrif, where he invents facts about the health care bill that have no basis in reality. He ends it all with a Palin-esque move....

Me
I watched CSPAN all day. It was like the Superbowl or World Series, except completely mind numbing and boring. Yet I am glad I kept watching. Hopefully Obama busts out the public option soon.

Roland A. Duby
the public option is, buy medical insurance from our companies or the IRS will take it out of your bank account or paycheck, and if they can't get it that way, they will arrest you and put you in a work camp, to pay for your medical insurance. hurray for democracy!

Me
We are all in this together. You insure your home and your car, why not your health? You don't need to be an actuary to know that the more people in the pool, the better.

I am all for the individual mandate, especially because getting health insurance is subsidized for anyone making less than 4x poverty ($88,000). For folks like me making about $20,000 - $30,000 a year, insurance will be much cheaper. Not to mention all the other goodies in this bill. Fuck, I could go back on my parents' insurance if I wanted to. So could my fiancee, who pays out the ass for insurance due to her pre existing conditions.

If you think you are so bulletproof that you do not need health insurance, than you deserve the enormous medical debt as well as the tiny fine.

Roland A. Duby
There is a great radio show on prisonplanet.com
the host is Alex Jones, If you havent heard of it, you should give it a listen.
I am all for people haveing insurance, but it is unconstitutional to force people into it.

Roland A. Duby
Also, if you are caught at the doctors with THC in your blood, you will be dropped.

Me
Federal income taxes also have no basis in the constitution. So fucking what?

And where do you get this idea about work camps? Or THC means you get dropped? Show me where it says this in the bill.

Roland A. Duby
That's why I'm running for sheriff to stop the feds from coming into my county
http://www.ronniesmithforsheriff.com

Me
So I guess you couldn't find the line in the bill about work camps? Good luck on your sheriff run, you sound like you'll make an excellent politician

Roland A. Duby
haha, I am still searching the bill, I know it's in there but it is 2700 pages..

Me
Or you could admit you went a tad overboard with the rhetoric when you started talking about work camps. That kind of thing earns my respect better than someone clinging to an untenable position.

Roland A. Duby
it said prison or jail, not work camps, but in my opinion jails and prisons are places where they take people like me and you who smoke pot or drug users in general, then they use them as forced labor. So you got me on the verbage, I will find the section where it says you will be penalized for non-compliance and then the penalty section says "jail or prison" verbatim!

Me
How about the other part where they drop you if you have THC in your system? I thought my medical information was confidential, seems like that is quite a breach. Now get cracking on finding where in the bill that part is penned.

Tip: When looking to feed someone misinformation about this bill you dislike, choose a candidate less informed than the dude who just spent all day watching CSPAN

Roland A. Duby I will find it and post a link to the text.
It says you will lose your coverage if you engage in illegal drug use.

Kinda sounds like a Sarah Palin move to me....'I'll get back to ya'....but he never did. Or will. Because it was not in the bill.

Sounds like a great choice for Sheriff....someone who makes claims with no basis in reality.

And here he claims that EVERY U.S. citizen is covered by the mmj law D.C. is considering.....hmmmmm, hard to sell that to the dude in Florida or Texas, isn't it?

Roland A. Duby
Washington D.C. passed a medical Marijuana law! It covers everyone who is a U.S. citizen no matter what state you live in!
http://blog.mpp.org/medical-marijuana/in-historic-vote-d-c-council-approves-medical-marijuana-law/05042010/comment-page-1/#comment-20361

You'll notice the link goes to a blog of some sort....but the facts are here..... http://www.salem-news.com/articles/may042010/dc-mmj.php I'm not sure if, like Montana, D.C. will adopt a policy such that any medical user with a state card is also covered. But it certainly does not cover 'every U.S. citizen'.
