I lost power for a couple of days, well actually i had power but only half as a big storm damaged a pole down the street. i wasn't able to run my hid lamp and had to rely on a very small cfl for 6 seedlings that were just 3 days sprouted. needless to say as they were in 3 gallon pots i wasn't able to get enough light to all of them and they stretched alot. now that they are back under the hid lamp they are doing good but kinda flimsy due to the extra strech. my question is will it hurt to add a couple more inches of soil to the pot to stiffen them or at 1 week old should i just let them go awhile longer? they are still standing on their own but are about 3-4 inches tall with only they very first set of leaves just getting going good. if it wasn't for bad luck i don't think i'd have any luck!

i had the same problem last year and i added dirt till it was just under the leafs and it worked exactly how i wanted it to. EXCEPT if your not careful when adding the extra dirt, the dirt can knock over the seedling and break its little stem. i ended up breaking 2 of mine while i was rushing. so just be careful

Thanks for the reply. i started 5 older seeds i had to go with these so if they all don't sprout i'll use the soil from those pots otherwise i'll have to mix some more. i had already envisioned how easy it would be to snap those stems. think i'll wait it out as long as they stand up. they should be stronger in another week then i can add soil.
